Guest guest
Eileen and - I am in Spokane, WA (so practically neighbors LOL) and it has been pretty consistently in the 90s lately, so was a shocker that we hit 100+ yesterday. I think today and tomorrow are supposed to get there also.... waaaah. I am with you though, I have about 6 bottles of water in the frige and the ice rotating LOL.... and, probably no structured exercise today, we'll see... Guest guest
, I don't remember where you are, but I'm in Portland OR and we broke records yesterday - it was 104 according to news reports. It was still nearly 90 in the house at 11PM. DH says it did not cool down that much overnight, so he's strategically placing fans and opening windows so we can pull some cool air in before it warms up again (100 today). I stayed home yesterday (minor infection, on antibiotics) and I think I got a headache from sleeping for hours in such a warm room. We don't have central air (old house), but we do have an icemaker and we've been keeping it busy. I should have thought to put several water bottles in fridge last night. OK, well I can do that now and they'll be nice and chilly midafternoon when we need them. I am not worrying at all about exercise til this heat wave is over (Mon or Tues), but focus on fruits, veggies, and water water water. Guest guest
Jeez girl where are you? I am in the LA area and it has been breaking records here too. Today it will be 101 with about 41% humidity. I can handle the heat but not the humidity. Where we moved from used to get 110 or sometimes higher. This area is supposed to be cooler but we are having a heatwave. The humidity is the worst part. Just remember your sunblock and water! Guest guest
Man, I WISH today was our 1st day...we have been in the double digits since JUNE! Our electric bill is normally around 70 bucks....last month it was 123 (still 'do-able')....ran the air about 5 or 6 days that month...not too bad.....our bill just came in yesterday for the most recent month.....okay.....are you ready....356 and some change!!! I thought I was going to pass out! And this hasn't even been the hottest we will get yet AND we only ran the air MAYBE 15 days or so...not all day either...S C A R Y!!! But then I talked to a few of our neighbors....theirs (having the same sized house as ours, just over 2200 sf) were OVER 500!!!!!! OH MY GOSH!! NO WAY!!! But we have been having record heat, 115 today in the part of So Cal where I live....and HUMID!!! AWFUL!!!!! I can deal with the heat during the day, but if I am too hot at night, NO WAY...and on top of that, I feel like a bloated balloon!!! Drinking TONS of water and maybe went tinkle 3 times!ICK!!! We have at least another good FULL month of this...has been NO relief since early June...usually our heat wave is in August... Okay...enough whining...sorry!Kathey Triple digits... first time this year YIKES!! Hooooo boy!! Guest guest
I think most people are having a heat wave right now. I know we are. This week is suppose to be even hotter then last week and believe me...this last week was a scorcher. My ele bill had really gone up too. We try and conserve cost by limiting how long we run our ac. We turn ours on around 10:00 to 11:00am depending on how hot it gets and run it till between 8:00 and 9:00 at night. We then turn it off and use our attic fan and open a window. We can only afford to use it during the hottest part of the day like this. If we ran ours all the time I'd die of shock when i would open my electrial bill. LOL All I can say is keep the ice bucket full. LOL It's gotta cool back down sometime:) Re: Triple digits... first time this year Man, I WISH today was our 1st day...we have been in the double digits since JUNE! Guest guest
We are on a level-payment plan with our utility company. We pay the same amount every month. It does kind of even out -- the months that we don't use a lot of energy, our actual bill is significantly lower -- and the amount above that is "banked" for us so that we can use it when our bills are higher. It also has helped that we lived in Ghana, West Africa for a year. It is near the equator -- and it is always hot. We didn't have AC -- shoot, there were a lot of time we didn't have electricity. We learned to adapt to the heat -- it is a slower paced lifestyle there. <sandra.mygroup@...> wrote: I think most people are having a heat wave right now. I know we are. Guest guest
It's 102 right now but according to the weather channel it feels like 107. We just bought another a/c unit for the bedroom but it is still hot in here and we live in an apartment! Glad I got my exercise in earlier.
