I told the gals I work with that I made choices when I decided to lose weight and then again when I joined Curves.... that $31 something a month is the majority of my eating out with them fund.... I'll go out 1-2 times a pay period with them, but that's it.... I have also gotten lately so that I rarely take lunch and breaks with them. I am like Ann, work at a sit-down job and I can't see going from sitting at my desk to sitting in the break room, so I try to go for small walk around the building or outside on the time away from desk.... it's working (for me) but like I said, I ain't winning no popularity contests LOL... Guest guest
Ann, congrats on the weight loss so far and on having the surgery. I work with a guy who had it done January and he is just so much like the guy he used to be, it really does seem to free him. As far as the company paying for a gym membership for our staff there are only fourteen people in the office itself...though we have technicians in the field all day...and it does help that our new manager does his treadmill every day and is a big believer in preventative maintenance for people and fitness. Now it's just a matter of finding a gym that is central to everyone so its fair and finding out how much. I like the fact that my gym is literally two minutes from my house...and from where I work but if I have to change at the end of my membership I will. Good for you on looking for the gym. The evaluation is par for the course for most gyms and it will tell you what you are starting at as far as strength, endurance, flexibility etc. They will probably discuss your goals with you and hopefully will help set you up with a plan that you like. When I'm following it every day I get to the gym, change clothes, do a mile on the treadmill which - before I quit these last two weeks - I was able to do in about 22 minutes. I have a scented wash cloth that I spritz with water and wipe myself down and use a good anti persperant. I brush my hair and that's it. As far as makeup I don't wear a lot because it doesn't agree with my skin so I wear it on special occasions and since I sit in dispatch all day I'm fine with that. It sounds to me like you're already planning how you will fit this into your life...and that is a great thing...it shows you've thought it out and are ready to do it. The important thing I've found with exercise or food is to find a plan or create one you can live with, one that fits into your life becuase it shouldn't take over your life, it should fit neatly into it like any other part of your day. good luck let me know how it goes. Lu Ann and <maryannanderic@...> wrote: ----- Original Message ----- From: Aussie Girl> I also asked at work (since my membership at the gym will be up in twelve > months) about the company paying for us to go to a gym in the area.Welcome Lu. There is no set weigh in here. Weigh when you want and report if you want. I weigh every Friday. That's great that you're trying to get your company to pay for a gym membership. I started a new job about 6 weeks ago and I saw on the website that they have a nice gym in the building. I have no idea where the gym is so my commitment is to go find it tomorrow at lunch. :)I was doing fine with bringing my lunch to work but a very social woman started 2 weeks ago and I've been going out with her and spending too much money and eating too much food at lunch. I'm going to ask her if she wants to go find the gym with me tomorrow. On the website it says you have to have an evaluation before you can use the gym so I won't work out tomorrow but I should be able to make an appointment and at least look around.I went from being a fairly active stay at home mom to a sedentary working mom. I *have* to start exercising! Last week I made a commitment here to start walking on my treadmill but that didn't happen. Sigh. {hanging head in shame}I plan to do a split routine at the company gym. Mon and Thurs. upper body. Tues/ Fri lower body. I'll do what I can in 30 min. so I can get back to my desk in about an hour.I need some suggestions for working out at lunch. I'm just going to be strength training so I won't get as sweaty as doing cardio. I'll keep trying to do the cardio at home on the treadmill. I wear slacks and a blouse to work so at least I don't have to worry about putting panty hose back on after exercising. Blech. Do you take a shower after working out? Anyway I can avoid that? I don't want to smell funny after lunch so I'll just have to see how sweaty I get by just lifting weights for 30 min.Do you re-apply make-up after lunch? I thought I might just wipe my face with astringent before and after work-out then I can put a little powder foundation back on before going back to work. I just wear a little eye shadow, mascara and powder foundation for my work make-up routine.I can put a little laundry basket in the back of my car every weekend so I can just throw fresh work-out clothes in a gym bag every day instead of having to remember to take stuff out to the car every morning. I usually pack it to work with me and then home (the clean/dirty laundry each day).... but the idea of putting it in the trunk in a basket and doing it weekly.... sounds great
Guest guest
Well I should have explained sorry.... I have my washcloths that I take to the gym. When I wash them I add a lavender rinse aid. For some reason the smell stays on there. Once dry I keep them in those resealable baggies to keep the smell constant. Then when I finish at the gym I just wet one down and give myself a quick wipe down. I might have to buy some of that and put washcloths in baggies to take to Curves...

Guest guest
I hear you! I used to have be able to afford those lunches 5 days a week - but chose to move to a better place. 3 of us were used to ordering lunch in or I'd run and pick it up because we were so shorthanded - we worked through lunch. We got a new supervisor and another worker - the super wanted us to go to lunch but we prefer eating at our desks - we're wierd I know LOL. Things got easier last fall when when of coworkers moved on - she was the one who started asking early in the morning - what's for lunch - as early as 9 am that question has been asked! 1 gal started WW just before the gal left. So we were down to the 2 of us. It was quick and easy. I was doing so well - like you said once or twice a pay period (on the really cheap lunch days LOL). I found throwing a loaf of bread in my cabinet - lunch meat / tuna etc. in the fridge (I hate cold bread) was quick and easy too. add a fruit and a lowfat pudding and I'm good. Tomorrow is left overs. Mom and I went out to dinner - ate my roll, my salad and a bit of the turkey, boxed the rest and took it home! Went to DQ with mom and the grandkids - Passed up a banana split (mmmmmmmmmm) and got a bottle of water - victory - I wasn't hungry, I wasn't tempted - it's all good :)Live, Love, Laugh Re: Working out at lunch In a message dated 7/23/2006 7:22:43 AM Pacific Standard Time, bryefield@... writes: I also feel back into the trap of having lunch with the girls at work with this week - neither my wallet or waist can afford that!
