Guest guest
Have you ever tried freecycle? www.freecycle.org has a listing of local freecylce web rings. from what i see, most things are taken VERY quickly. just one thought! -Heidi On 7/20/06, brgk44 <brgk44@...> wrote: Hi ladies, I'm cleaning up toys today and weeding out the ones my kidshave outgrown or simply don't play with anymore. Any ideas on how to get rid of them? I don't want to do a yard sale with just toys...andI've heard that Goodwill gets so many that they wind up throwing a lotaway. I called the homeless shelter and they will accept small toys, but we have quite a few larger items I'd like to get rid of as well.If anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate it! And feel free to emailme privately as well. Thanks!-Bonnie

Guest guest
I would call a church and see if they have a nursery or a play room for kids and usually they would be happy to take them. Guest guest
Oh goodness, I would think there are plenty of places that will take free toys. My best thought it go to your local hospital to the pediactrics ward and talk to the kids that are there and give them toys. As far as the larger toys, many doctors offices need toys to put in the corner of their waiting room to entertain the kids. Preschools,Day cares,Churches for their nursery. You could even maybe call a few churches and get the names of a few needy families with small children to give them to. I would suggest GoodWill but I never knew they threw away some because they got so many. Or like someone else had mentioned set them in your yard with a free sign on them. They would disappear before you finish your iced tea:) I don't know..... does Toys for tots accept toys all year round? > Hi ladies, I'm cleaning up toys today and weeding out the ones my kids > have outgrown or simply don't play with anymore. Guest guest
Bonnie, I have a great idea. See if there is FRECYCLE in you community. Freecycle is a group of people who trade things for free. When our house burned down a a couple years ago we were unable to replace the kids toys right away. I found freecycle and people were doing what you are and just gave them to me. It is a great way to get and get rid of stuff.
Guest guest
One more quick idea. See if there is McDonaled house near you. We stayed there for 3 weeks when my baby was in ICU. They had all kinds of stuff for the brothers and sisters of sick kids to play with and they were all donated.
Guest guest
How about joining one of the Freecycle groups on and offering the larger items individually?
