The little Sturgis? What is that? We are leaving in just over 2 weeks for the BIG STURGIS rally...are you near there?????Kathey

Too much heat, motorcycles and sun!

Well, Here is how my day went yesterday. I went to mom's to help her with the rummage sale. We had heat indexes of 105. I tried to stay in the shade as much as possible. I forgot my sunscreen at home and as a result you should see me now. I along with my daughter are both crispy critters. Oh boy have I ever burned. My face, neck, arms, upper chest, and even my lower legs where I had my pant legs rolled up. Under my eyes are real puffy. I would hate to see how I would have looked had I not tried and stayed in the shade. Needless to say I did not exercise at all last night. I got up today and I'm sore but think I will be able to get in at least my 30 minutes today of exercise. I went out and checked the mail early and the sun hasn't even gotten hot yet and my arms stung the whole time I was out there. We was going to have the sale today too but after we got burned so bad yesterday and with the heat being so bad we decided to cancel it today. The little Sturgis Bike Rally started yesterday and all day long Motorcycles was up and down the highway so we all got some slight hearing loss today. I bet yesterday we said "HUH" a couple hundred times. My eating was still decent yesterday however I did have a regular soda when I got home. I should have done my 30 minutes of exercise last night but when I came home I was just so stiff and my muscles was done sore from this burn I just didn't have it in me. I will make sure I get my 30 minutes in today. I may not throw in any extra today though:) Well, Hopefully today my hearing may return :) and maybe if I'm lucky I can still move without too much pain:) It is suppose to be hotter today then it was yesterday and remain this way for a few days. We are having a heat wave here:(

WOW !! I can't imagine having a yard sale in 105 degree heat!! I don't blame you for not doing your 30 minute's exercise last night. That heat just zaps ya, that's for sure!! Rest, take care of you and remember... plenty of water!!

Yeah well any sane person wouldn't have.LOL I am paying for it today. I done have blisters all over my arms and blisters under my eyes. I'm keeping aloe vera cream on it but oh how my arms hurt! But you'd be proud I still done 30 minutes of bike today. I couldn't swing my arms so I held to the handles or crossed them across my chest. No way could I swing my arms today. There is no way I could have gone back and helped her today. I'm glad we cancelled it for today. No longer then it took me to walk to the mailbox and back in the sun was baking my arms. And cooking was a new experience. Opening a oven door on a burn like this is not a good thing:( We will have simple meals for a day or two so I don't have to get around the heat.Today was suppose to have been hotter. Thank goodness I didn't have to get out. I figure this time tomorrow the blisters all over me will be quite large and start to pop and leak.

Nice cool compresses willl help all that. Hope you're feeling better today.

You're going to be really sun sensitive for the rest of the summer, if you

have skin like mine.

Blisters are *bad*! Be extra careful they don't get infected!

One year Henry was at a friend's pool (His going-away party the week before

we moved to Florida) and forgot to reapply his sunscreen all day, and that

night he started to blister. Oh, what a mess! At least the doctor was still

in, wrote him a prescription for a silver oxide (?) cream. It helped a lot.

> Thats " silvadene " . it is used on burn victims,

That's the one! When the doc ordered it and the first pharmacy didn't have

it, the guy said it's such an old-fashioned remedy that not too many places

carry it any more. I found *that* to be true, but it kept his blisters from

getting infected and soothed the pain, so it was worth the hassle of finding

a store that had it.

Thanks. And yes I am. Yesterday I was horrible. Today is much better. Still

not ready to stand out in the sun again for more then a couple minutes but I

went to the doctors office with my daughter today and went from the car in

and out and it didnt sting and hurt too bad. Blisters are down in size. So

I'm on the way to mending:)

No doubt about it. I have skin that is " white " white.I have always burned.

The sun and I aren't real good buddies. I passed out from a heat stroke when

I was around 13 years old and every since then I just can't stand the suns

rays. If I don't feel like I'm going to pass out then I get sunburned. So I

spend most of my time indoors.

You know I didnt think about it but I bet I had some great stuff right in my

bathroom for it. My grand daughter had these horrible diaper rashes where

her butt was just so raw. Her doctor prescribed sween cream with mallox(Not

sure if I spelled it right) It did wonders for a raw babies butt. I bet it

would be good for this.I didn't even think of it until I read this email.

The aloe vera cream must have helped too as it is better today.
