MEMORIES

"Like the corners of my mind. Misty, water-colored memories of the way we were."

I sang that song to myself last night as I was going through a lot of files and boxes of memories that I have accumulated over the last 25 years of my life! I sat there on the floor with all these photo albums and boxes, and guess what I found. My clean, typed copy of my first book, "Never Say Diet"! Oh, Lord, I look so young in those photos… well, I was young!

There were several albums dedicated to my General Hospital days. Did I ever have fun on that show! There are pics of me with Tony Geary, Genie Francis, and Jane Elliott, who played Quartermaine. There are press clippings from all the malls I visited on my GH tours, and I gotta tell you; I visited a lot of malls! Did you meet me there?

I was so excited that I kept the first Deal-a-Meal wallet and cards produced by the factory that made them!

I looked through some more scrapbooks and saw pictures and clippings from "The Show." I laughed at myself while looking at pictures of me dressed as Reverend Pounds, a dancing sugar cube, and the skating angel. Yes, I used to dress up as an angel with feathered wings and a halo, and I would go to supermarkets on skates and pray over people`s carts. My first show was so much fun that I`m thinking of doing "The Best Of…" on DVD. All the beliefs I had about nutrition, exercise, and motivation still hold true today.

I ran across a box filled with letters and poems I had saved sent by those who love me. Since 1986, I have done 24 infomercials and have scrapbooks to prove it. The first infomercial I did was called "The History of Dieting." We sold the "Deal-a-Meal," some recipes, and the first "Sweatin` to the Oldies." I couldn`t believe the size of my afro back then! It looked like I was wearing chocolate cotton candy on my head!

I plan to go downstairs again today after I do my radio show and spend many hours looking through the many happy memories from my past. Where do you keep all of your mementoes? Maybe it`s time for you to go through yours so you can fill your mind with happy memories, too!

For all you Dads out there, Happy Father`s Day! I hope that many wonderful memories for your future will be created with your family today.

Love,
