COLON, WITHOUT THE POWELL!

Dr. F., my below the waist doctor, called and said, " , how are you?

Your birthday is just around the corner, and do I have a present for you!

I`m giving you a colonoscopy! " Now I have received many wonderful presents

for my birthday, but this present did not count as one of them!

When you reach the ripe old age of 50, you have to start having this

procedure done every few years, and Dr. F was right. It was my time again.

The day before, I had to drink these drinks that are not too pleasant. You

follow the drink with a liquid diet of water, chicken broth, 7-Up, ginger

ale, and Jell-o, any color but red. I drank cups of hot chicken broth all

day and splurged and had a Vernor`s Ginger Ale over crushed ice with a

little red plastic monkey hanging from my glass.

It`s hard not to eat for a whole day! I won`t tell you how many times I

opened the refrigerator door and said hello to my food friends. The morning

of the procedure, I couldn`t have anything to drink, not even water. I did

cheat once and licked on a spearmint lifesaver.

At 8:00 AM, I ran in the waiting room and announced, " Is this where the

colon party is? " Within 10 minutes, I knew every colon there… I mean every

person there! I had them all laughing so much, the nurses came out to see

what all the noise was about.

At 9:00 o`clock, I was wheeled in the operating room. At 10:00 o`clock, I

woke up in the recovery room with my doctor telling me my colon was in great

shape! All the nurses and the anesthesiologist got together and gave me an

award for outstanding colon! They were so funny.

Are you over 50? Whether you are a man or a woman, you must get a

colonoscopy done. There are many types of cancers out there that we don`t

know much about yet, but we do know that colon cancer is curable if caught

in the early stages! Oh, don`t say to me that your colon is fine. Your

doctor will be the judge of that, not you!

I know some of you have not been to the doctors in a long time. This is not

good! Please make an appointment to see your family doctor and take care of

your body inside and out!

Love,
