Guest guest
Hey Sandy weight loss is a struggle for all. Whether you count calories, count points, low carb, sugar busters, and I could go on this are all in how you feel. To get yourself going again maybe try adding a small snack, add a little exercise, journal, or try something new. To me it sounds like your body maybe changing form. You know how some of us gals when we gain it goes in the middle or the boota. Maybe your lose before you got stuck is changing your body. You can get that scale or measurement tape to move. NH... Guest guest
You cant get discouraged (easy for me to say, rightÜ) BUT, I have to ask you...you say that your eating isn't 'that' bad, but do you know for sure? Are you writing EVERYTHING down? Try doing that for a couple weeks and then really seeing where your eating is....also, you do know that we are all going to say muscle ways more than fat so KEEP DOING WHAT YOU ARE DOING....AND if you have someone you feel comfortable with to measure you, than have them measure you every time....I know I can measure different at my gym depending on who measures me.... DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED!!! Blessings!Kathey, who is TWO TENTHS of a pound away from a FORTY pound loss!! how can i be stuck again?! ok here is the scoop on my weight. I weighed in today and I weighed 240.4 I weighed 240 on May 31th! So it says I have gained 4 tenths of a pound over almost 3 weeks. I am not gonna stress over 4 tenths of a pound for goodness sake but once again folks....I'm stuck again. I havent moved in weight for 3 weeks! I have been faithfully exercising daily for no less then 30 minutes. And I mean a good fast pace. And my eating hasn't been great but I don't feel as if it has been real bad. I sure thought I would have weighed and it would show a nice loss. I have even caught myself pulling up my size 24 pants a few times. (How can I be doing this when my measurements and scales says I havent lost. Maybe it was all in my mind) I know you all are gonna say maybe I'm building muscle. I so want to agree with you so I took my measurement too. Here is what I came out with. On May 31 I had a Chest of 48. Today I was 48.5(A half inch larger!) On May 31 I had a waist of 51.75 Today I was 52. (A quarter inch larger!) On May 31 I had a hip of 57 Today I was 57(Whoo, At last no gain!) On May 31 I had a thigh 0f 29.5 Today it was 29. (a half inch loss!) On May 31 I had a bicep of 13.5 Today it was 14( Again a 1/2 inch gain) On May 31 I had a forearm of 11.5 Today it was 12 (A 1/2 inch gain) On May 31 I had a calf of 19 Today it was 19 (maintained) On May 31 I had a neck of 15.5 Today it was 15.(1/2 inch loss.) On May 31 I had a wrist of 7. Today it is 7 (maintained) So all in all my measurements showed 4 gained and 3 maintained, 2 loss and the scales showed a small gain. Now I am not real good at this but either I am measuring wrong or something. I don't see how I can have loss on certain parts of my body and gained on other parts. I don't know..... I'm just trying to remind myself to keep going. I have to start losing again. I know I am doing my exercises and drinking my water. My eating hasn't been bad with the exception of once. So although I don't understand what my body is doing I'm gonna try hard to stay on path.
Guest guest
no, I'm not writing it all down anymore. But I pretty much keep a nothing but low calorie breakfast each and every morning. My breakfast is usually 2 boiled eggs or 1 cup of dried cheerios. And of course water. My dinner is usually some kind of a TV dinner or packaged meal like a hot pocket. My lunch is usually about 400-450 calories. Now dinner is the one meal where I am most apt to mess up. I usually have a "normal" dinner. I will fix a meat and 2 sides. But....I have gotten fairly good at keeping to one portion and keeping fairly close to plan. There have been a couple times I know I went over like my Lasagna Day and one day I had I think it was 3 cookies. I know there is a few days that my dinner calories will be pushing my limits but I really think without writing it down that I wasn't out of my ball park. I guess though to make sure I need to start writing it all down again. And as you said I know my measuring is off as I never get the same measurements any two times I measure. I guess the only way for me to get it right is to make on my body with a permanent sharpie the spot I measured so I'd be sure to get it in the same spot the next time. LOL I don't know... I am going to stick with it a while longer and see if I move. I did up my exercise today from 30 minutes to 45. On a brighter note I see you are 2/10 from 40 pounds loss. Well shoot girl...go outside and spit a few times. LOL Great going. That's close enough for me to call it a victory of 40 pounds! You cant get discouraged (easy for me to say, rightÜ) BUT, I have to ask you...you say that your eating isn't 'that' bad, but do you know for sure? Are you writing EVERYTHING down? Guest guest
Thanks , I know what you mean. I sworn a couple months ago I wouldn't measure myself again for that sole reason. I don't have a clue. It never works for me. But I'm a sucker and keep trying. LOL I have no intentions of giving up. Well at least not today. Tomorrow might be another story. LOL It wouldn't be so bad but it seems as if I have done this about every 5 pounds since I have started to try and lose weight. Hi .. Wish I could help you.. I don't usually measure myself to be honest I wouldnt even know how to if i tried.. lol Are you eating about the same amt of calories everyday.. Maybe switch it up alittle.. or eat alittle more on the days you work out alot and less on days you may not get as much exercise.. Don't give up.. just posted that after 3 weeks of being on a plateau she just lost 5 lbs.. Hopefully you will see a loss soon..

All my weight seems to go right to my stomach area. (and my chin)And you know way most people seem to fill out all the way around their stomach making their waist wider?...Well most of my weight tends to look like it is all in the front of my stomach. If I was to stand side ways it looks like I'm 9 months pregnant. Honestly....Its all right up front just like I had a little bundle of joy coming soon. You're driving yourself crazy! 4 tenths of a pound fluctuations can happen hourly. Or while you're still standing there! Just shift a little to one side or another and see how the weight changes. Lean a bit forward and the weight is different than if you lean a little bit back. Measurements are rarely accurate unless you 1) mark the spot and measure the exact same spot and 2) with the exact same tension on the tape measure each time. A slight shift north or south or a slightly lesser amount of tautness on the tape will give a different reading. >Now I am not real good at this but either I am measuring wrong or something. You're just getting too hung up on numbers! How do you FEEL? Are you walking with more ease? Climbing stairs a bit better? Able to lift heavier loads with less difficulty? Less joint pain when moving around? If so, who cares what the numbers on a pice of machinery or plastic tape say? You're eating well, adequate amounts of healthy foods. You're drinking adequate amounts of water. Getting adequate amounts of exercise and rest for your body. As long as you're feeling healthier, that's the only measuring device you should be paying attention to. Sue in NJ
Guest guest
STOP MEASURING and STOP WEIGHING!! > > You're driving yourself crazy! LOL, But sue How would I know if I was losing or not if I didn't weigh? No honestly. I don't weigh no where near as much as I used too. I used to weigh a couple times a day now I go sometimes a week and 1/2 before I weigh. > Measurements are rarely accurate unless you 1) mark the spot and measure > the > exact same spot and 2) with the exact same tension on the tape measure > each > time. A slight shift north or south or a slightly lesser amount of > tautness > on the tape will give a different reading. Now this....I can do without. I agree completely. I just cannot get a acccurate measurement. I have said before I was never going to meaure again. But then I always go back and try anyway. The measurement thing to me is useless. So far two things has told me when I'm losing weight . The scales and my smaller size pants I keep on my dryer. > You're just getting too hung up on numbers! ekks, I know sometimes I do. But I am trying to not go over the deep end when those same numbers keep appearing. But dang it.....I've been friends with 2,4 and 0 so long. I want to make new friends and start hanging out with 2, 3,8 and even 9 for awhile. > How do you FEEL? > Are you walking with more ease? Climbing stairs a bit better? Able to lift > heavier loads with less difficulty? Less joint pain when moving around? If > so, who cares what the numbers on a pice of machinery or plastic tape say? Yes to all the above! I have said this a hundred times to family and friends. I cannot believe how much losing 20 pounds has made a difference. I can tell a huge difference. > As long as you're feeling healthier, that's the only measuring device you > should be paying attention to. I know you are right about that. And I know thats what I should be doing. Now I wish someone would convince my mind. LOL. It's sorta like we know we should exercise daily...but its a battle to do it. We know we should eat sensibly and with portion control but...Its a battle doing it. I guess it is part of the retraining you go though along with the new eating and exercise plan is learning how to live with the numbers on the scales too or as you say just stop looking at the scales all together. Guest guest
> I know you are right about that. And I know thats what I should be doing. > Now I wish someone would convince my mind. LOL. I talk a good talk but have problems walking the walk myself. I still hop on the scale nearly every morning and jump with glee when I see even a pound down and am grumpy the whole day if it's a half a pound up. It's sorta like we know we > should exercise daily...but its a battle to do it. Amen! My neuritis in my neck is acting up again, so I'm not sleeping because of the back, shoulder, and arm pain, so today I didn't do any before heading to the doctor. I was happy to hear him tell me to be careful of the exercise with my neck like this and planned on using it as an excuse to stop sweatin' again until my neck is all better, something that usually takes a few *weeks* to accomplish. Of course, he also told me to cut down on my computer time because this bothers the neck, too, but I had no such thoughts of following *that* advice! LOL By the time I got home I figured I may as well change back into my cruddy clothes and pop that video in and do it, and now I'm catching up on a few emails before I walk away again for a few hours (I'm limited to 15 minutes 4 times a day - torture!). I have to behave myself, at least until I get lab work down in a few weeks and go back to him for the results. LOL We know we should eat > sensibly and with portion control but...Its a battle doing it. Portion control is my problem. Even the doc agreed that I can't eat any healthier than I already am, and I impressed the student doc he had with him today because out of all the patients he had seen I'm the only one who brought pages and pages of blood pressure readings, glucose readings, and food journals, most of the meals low fat vegan (He's Hindu and been veg since birth). I just eat too much. I have to cut down on my portions, stay closer to 1200 calories than 1600, and try get in 5 x week aerobic exercise. When we get the results of the thyroid battery on my next visit we'll see how effective these changes have been. If I haven't lost at least 2 pounds a week he said he might start me on the thyroid, anyway, since I've been borderline for almost 20 years now anyway. Finally! For the most part, I eat very healthy (probably not as healthy as you, though)--just eat too much. Not so much anymore, but when I fall off the plan, you can hear the thump two states away > I just eat too much. Sue, I really hope he puts you on the thyroid meds--that has helped my 'borderline' friend so much in the past six months. I'm sure it'd help you, too. -Bonnie

I think that is a normal reaction of someone trying so hard to lose weight. If you didn't care what those numbers said then you probaly aren't real worried about losing weight. When you put effort into trying to change your life for the better*and it is hard work. Physically and mentally* and you see those numbers on the scales, it does kinda affects how your mind reacts. We might not should let that happen. But its like telling people not to worry about something. Well I'm sure people don't sit down and chose to worry. It just happens. > It's sorta like we know we >> should exercise daily...but its a battle to do it. > Amen! LOL Yeah, Funny how we can only follow the advice we want to follow. LOL I hope your neck gets to feeling better. > By the time I got home I figured I may as well change back into my cruddy > clothes and pop that video in and do it, and now I'm catching up on > a > few emails before I walk away again for a few hours (I'm limited to 15 > minutes 4 times a day - torture!). I get neck pinches every so often and when it happens I can't hardly move my arm or shoulder at all. I know neuritis may act differently but I'm sure any neck problem has to be difficult. > I just eat too much. I have to cut down on my portions, stay closer to > 1200 > calories than 1600, and try get in 5 x week aerobic exercise. I think I had the whole kit as my problem. I never moved my butt except to go from the computer to the bathroom and to the kitchen. I never got exercise. I ate too much and I ate the High calorie foods.Where as I know I still have a lot of improvement to make. My exercise level has greatly improved. My foods is still a work in progress. I still overeat but no where as much as I used to and I know now what a lot of the higher calorie foods is. I just have to keep steering myself away from the high calorie stuff to better choices and less of it. (That is my hardest struggle) But hey.... I'm still doing the baby steps. Guest guest
When I go to Curves for my weigh/measuring, I cross my fingers while she weighs me. I like to be told it's down just a little bit. So far, for the most part, I have had consistent losses when they weigh me, but still... it would SUCK to have a gain in front of someone else... I used to never weigh in front of other people because I was so ashamed of my weight. But since I started this...I don't care who see the numbers on the scales. I came to a grim realization in Janurary..... I didn't know it before and I guess I didn't think other people knew it. But I'm fat. (shocker) After seeing the videos I now realize other people knows it too:) I now know I'm fat. I know other people knows I'm fat. So why do I care if other peope sees those numbers. Now at least when I weigh in I can whoop with Joy when I see a smaller number and have my "Damn scales" scream when I don't. I don't have to worry about weighing in secret.
