Guest guest
's Daily Message Friday June 02, 2006 HELLO? IT'S ME, RICHARD! I just love the telephone. (Thank you, Mr. Bell.) The phone I grew up with was black and felt like it weighed a ton! There were no buttons to press like the phones we have today. Back then, you had to stick your index finger into these little holes on the phone`s face and dail each number...manually. (Gasp!) I tried to dial a number with my thumb one time and got it stuck in one of those little holes. I got in trouble for my antics which was, of course, nothing new for me! My father would time all of my phone calls. Five minutes was my limit, that was it. Can you imagine if we`d had cell phone in the 1950`s? My dad would have gone nuts. Well, I go nuts calling people and being in contact with so many of you. The first time I talked with Clay, he was very depressed about his weight and felt like a failure. I also spoke with Christy, his wife, and she felt the same as Clay about herself. See, both of them were very overweight. I explained my program to them both, telling them that if they followed it together, they would see positive changes in their overall good health and weight-loss. Sure enough, Clay and Christy got serious about taking better care of themselves. Clay began at 325 pounds and has now lost 65 pounds. And Christy has gone from 165 down to 128 pounds. Can you believe it? They were both ecstatic! I also spoke with Lakeisha. She`s a college senior from Chicago. She and I talked about everything, including Chicago Stuffed Pizza! (Oh, no!) Lakeisha started her journey at 290 pounds. Her biggest problem is that she didn`t like to exercise. Someone suggested one of my DVDs to her. Lakeisha tried one and liked it so much because it was just plain fun! (Drum roll here, please.) Lakeisha has lost 85 pounds! She`s down to 205 working her way to her goal weight of 165 pounds. I know she will do it, too. Later that day, I had a conversation with another person I follow regularly and her name is Pam. Pam`s highest weight was 450 pounds. At that weight, she told me she was not living, only existing. But Pam began to cut her portions and ate more salads and vegetables. She did the best she could with the workouts and each month, she got better at it. All she wanted to do was get out of the 400+ pounds range. It took Pam over a year-and-a-half but, and get those drums ready again, Pam has now lost a total of 136 pounds! Out of the 400's? Hey, by losing another 16 pounds, she will be under 300 pounds! You are one determined gal, Pam! I wanted to share these success stories with you before the weekend cometh. I`m here in New York City and later today, I'll be doing the Wish-Bone Fashion Show at Grand Central Station. After that, I head back to Los Angeles to teach class at SLIMMONS tomorrow. Come join me!
