's Daily MessageSundayApril 23, 2006REVVING UP FOR THE CRUISEIt`s hard to believe my 25th cruise leaves from Miami next Saturday! I gotta tell you that a week on this ship is challenging to me, too. We all have to pass up the midnight buffets and all the luscious food on the menus. We also have to climb a lot of stairs every day and do a lot of walking from one side of the ship to the other. And then there are the daily classes and the thousands of leg lifts. Oh, I can feel them already! When I go to bed at night, I am plum tired, so starting today, I am in training to improve my stamina for this fantastic athletic journey.I am an athlete… sort of. Most athletes retire when they are in their 30's and 40's because they played real hard and are so beat up. Well, here I am 2 years shy of 60, and I`m still out there better than ever! So from now till Saturday, I am preparing myself for the cruise. I`m adding 15 additional minutes to my cardio and 10 additional minutes to my toning. I have a lot of stairs in my home, and I plan on walking them in the morning and evening. And I will get really strict with my eating and not be tempted by all the Easter candy in the freezer. For breakfast, I plan on having a half a grapefruit, a bowl of oatmeal, and 8 ounces of fat free yogurt. It`s tuna for lunch every day. I make mine with tuna, chopped celery, apples, and carrots with a little real mayo and Dijon mustard. I serve the tuna on a bed of baby spinach or hearts of romaine with some whole wheat crackers or pita bread. And for dinner, grilled chicken or turkey burgers, brown rice or yams, and 3 servings of vegetables, all steamed to perfection. I`ll snack on fruit and cut up veggies. Besides my 8-ounce glass of soy milk in the morning, all my other beverages will be plain old water.Look, I don`t eat like this every day. Remember, I`m no different from you. I love hamburgers, curly fries, hotdogs, onion rings, and chocolate layer cake, but those foods will not give me the energy I need for my cruise, and boy, will I need a lot of it for this group! You are coming on our CyberCruise with us, aren`t you? I hope so! Why don`t you join me and make the best of choices of food and keep track of all your portions with the FoodMover, and add a few extra minutes to your daily workout like I`m doing! Have a restful day, plan your meals, sweat, and enjoy a peaceful bubble bath!Love,
