Guest guest
's Daily Message TuesdayMay 23, 2006HAPPY AS CLAMS! Over the weekend, I got my usual chance to talk to so many people on my radio show, Lighten Up. And I have to say, this week, they were feeling really good. They were all just happy as clams. That`s because they were all losing weight and feeling so fine! Let me start off by telling you about , from Massachusetts. worked with a man named , 49 years-old and weighing over 300 pounds. Everyone loved but no one really discussed his weight with him. But imagine how shocked they all were when died of a heart attack, brought on by his obesity. and her co-workers took a good look at what happened to him and decided to start a weight-loss group in `s memory. The group now has over 30 members and I spoke with and some of the others members in her group. WOW! Were they ever happy and, as you`ll see, they should be. Get a load of this... has lost 16 pounds. Shaun, another group member, has lost 20. Amy...13 pounds gone. Chrissy has said goodbye to 10 pounds. Deborah said adios to 15 and then there`s , who has lost 51 pounds, so far! (So can you see why they are all so happy?) So far in just three months, `s group has lost a total of nearly 160 pounds. Hoo-RAY! I hope and her group inspired a lot of my listeners, (and maybe even some of you), to start support groups of their own. I also chatted a while with from Virginia. I call her every couple of months on my show to follow her progress. ruptured a disc in junior high school and had to have back surgery. Soon after the surgery, she began to gain weight with a vengeance. Then, seven years ago, she had to have another back surgery and it leaves her in constant pain. To top it all off, `s husband decided to divorce her and begin a new life for himself. Distraught by it all, ate her way up to 300 pounds. But with a lot of determination and faith, she worked hard and has now lost 85 pounds. A fun way uses to measure her success is by watching her jean size get smaller and smaller. Just 16 pounds from where she is right now, will be under 200 pounds and she vows to never see the "Terrible 2`s" again! Last March, I called a lady from Ohio named Kim. At just 46 years-old and weighing 270 pounds, she suffered a heart attack. Kim had already been through a lot in her life, including taking verbal abuse from her now ex-husband. With so much to take in, Kim did a lot of soul-searching and recently joined Weight Watchers. She also began doing my workout tapes and has lost TEN pounds, so far! And you know what? If all these great folks can do it, I believe you can do it, too! Remember, you`ve got to believe it before you see it. Let the stories I shared with you today help keep you focused, all week long. And, hey, you`ll end up being as "happy as a clam", too! Love,
