It's Mother's Day in the USA, a day our families traditionally take Mom out for a fancy dinner.

We're foregoing the fancy dinner.... restaurants too crowded, money tight....

In this house, I already told my guys I'm not going anywhere, not eating anything special.

Good for you, should be your choice, afterall.....

My boys still wanted to do something special, and they're going to pick up Subway sandwiches, and for me it'll be the all veggie one on whole wheat (?) roll and leave off the oil. That should add up to 2 starches (possibly more - I don't remember how big this sandwich is as I only had it once in my life) and possibly 2 veggies. If not, I always have a salad in the fridge. I'll be making up a simple fruit salad to go along with it for all of us for dessert.

Depends on what size they get 6" or 12" they also have the small round sandwiches "kid size".... sounds good!! I don't know if my head could tolerate eating one. I've noticed the past couple of days that if I have to open my mouth wide to yawn or bite into food it makes my head hurt....owie.

What are the rest of you having for Mother's Day dinner?

We're going to my aunt's for a BBQ this afternoon, so I will have no problem eating "on plan"

Happy mom's day!

Since Mother's Day always seems to fall on Sunday, we never, ever celebrate Mother's Day on Mother's Day. My husband is a pastor and Sunday is the busiest day of the week for us. We usually go out on Saturday afternoon -- but didn't make it this weekend. If is hard to coordinate our schedules with two teenage sons who are working on weekends & my hsuband's Sunday schedule. Hi There, For mother's day my brother took the whole family out to Red Lobster. I wasn't very good today. I had scampi and shrimp pasta. I wouldn't have been able to go if my brother hadn't decided to pay for every ones. Nice of him right? I sure thought so. My husband had to work so he didn't get any Red Lobster. Thankfully I cooked last night so I can give him left overs for dinner. If, I get hungry later on I might just have half a sandwich. We went out for lunch. I'm not a mother, but I still felt treated since I got to go out to a fancy place for lunch.

I let my kids choose what to do today, so we went to the zoo and rode the train

around the zoo, and then we had a picnic. I had a fabulous time spending it with

my kids. The zoo even gave all mothers a rose. My husband and I decided we would

buy a digital camera for mothers day and fathers day. Hope everyone has a

wonderful day, Jana

Re: What's cooking today?

----- Original Message ----- From: Sue in NJWe came home after lunch and I took a nice nap. :) When I got up gave me my present which is a 10 day free trial to 24 Hour Fitness. No, he wasn't being incredibly cheap. :) There's nothing cheap about a gift given with love:) Some of the best gifts I have ever received didn't cost a dime. He had gotten a 3 year membership but he chickened out and cancelled it so I can try it out first and make sure I like it.I think any time there is a trial for something you might be interested in, you should take the trial first. Sometimes places are all they claim to be.This is a great gift. The only catch is when I'm going to go if I get a full time job. If I'm unemployed I'll go every morning after I take the kids to school. In the summer I'd let them read, play Gameboy or whatever in the Kid's Club for an hour while I work out. It's a different story if I'm working though.Just gotta hunt for those hours. I don't work. And I don't have any little ones at home and dang it....it is still hard to fit everything in a day.It seems no matter what you do, there's never enough hours in the day.I don't have the vaguest idea as to where all my time in a day goes. It seems I stay just as busy now as when I had 2 little ones at home. And I remember how busy I was then. I don't know how you ladies can work, raise kids and still have time for yourself. I would be worn to a frazzel.

Hi There, For mother's day my brother took the whole family out to Red Lobster. *sitting here drooling from the corner of my mouth* I wasn't very good today. I had scampi and shrimp pasta. I wouldn't have been able to go if my brother hadn't decided to pay for every ones. Nice of him right? You bet it was! I sure thought so. My husband had to work so he didn't get any Red Lobster. Awww....That's bad. But I also know how it is trying to get a whole family together. Someones schedules just isnt gonna allow them to come. My mom spends weeks trying to schedule thanksgiving and Christmas dinners so everyone can make it. I finally told her to just simply set a date and whoever can make will come and who ever has to work will just have to miss out. Maybe next year it will work out better for them. Maybe he can go after work and treat himself to a fast food somewhere by himself. Thankfully I cooked last night so I can give him left overs for dinner. If, I get hungry later on I might just have half a sandwich. We went out for lunch. I'm not a mother, but I still felt treated since I got to go out to a fancy place for lunch. You might not be a mother, but I know you are someone's daughter so i think you deserve to celebrate right along with her and celebrate the love we all have for moms.
