I have actually had quiet a few trainers calling me

today. I am very impressed. I know they are not that

hard up for money there. They are just so great. And

the girl that I signed up with, she called and told me

that the top trainer had an opening, and that I should

call him. Plus, she would introduce me to some more

people there, and she gave me her cell phone number to

call her when I needed anything, even just some

support or a pep talk. How cool is that??? What a

great place!!! Can't wait!!!

Smile!!

I went to the gym this morning and the sales guy showed me around. This is the first time I've been in 24 Hour Fitness although I've driven by it many times to get to Burger King. :P No hard sell at all but I gave him the impression that I would join when I got back in town in June so that probably made him happy. :) I did various upper body machines including chest press, shoulder press, a couple of bicep and tricep things, lats, etc. I made sure not to overdo it but my arms feel like they are going to fall off anyways. :) I was the biggest person there but there was one woman 60+ and overweight and a 40 something chubby lady. It's not a beautiful person meat market kind of place. Everyone just minds their own business and is far too busy to worry about what I look like. :) Thank goodness fanny floss outfits are no longer popular.Tomorrow I'll go and do lower body. For those of you that lift weights, what sort of routine do you do? I'll do upper two days a week and lower two days a week for now. I want muscles!Friday I'll swim. I'll use a mask and snorkel since I can't catch my breath swimming freestyle and breathing to the side. Saturday I'll do upper body then take Vonn (6) to the neighborhood pool in the afternoon. Sunday I'll do lower body.Monday I'll collapse in exhaustion! Nah. I'm trying to ease into this so I don't get injured and I don't get burned out. For cardio I'll walk on the treadmill at home and maybe try a salsa class at the gym. I only lasted 1 min. 8 seconds on the elliptical trainer today! Sheesh. I'm such a pansy. :) I quit because I could feel it in one of my knees. I thought it was supposed to be easy on your knees.Gotta pick the kids up from school then we're meeting friends at the park before swimming lessons. Next Thursday is the last day of school. Still no word on the job so I'm just going to look forward to playing with my kids. :) Ann

Curves runs around $35 a month, I want to say. Check your local area if interested. Otherwise, you might get the scholorship to the Y, just give them a call. Do you have a Salvation Army type place around? They might have exercise equipment also a pool....

I might get too nervous working out with all the other people around though. I would have to make myself not worry about other people looking at me.

I just get in the mind-set that I am there for me, don't care what anyone else is doing or thinking. I just tone out. Of course, I have also made friends at Curves, so if they are all there, we chat while working out....

I went swimming yesterday. We have a really small pool here at my apartment complex. It was a tad bit too cold though. I did get a little sun burned though.

Yeah, I would imagine so. It's been in the 90s here this week. The kids are ready and eager for the pools to open, but they won't open until Memorial Day weekend... they get out of school June 9, so that will help.

When school gets out though it will be packed and I probably won't go then. The pool is awfully small.

Do they have "adult time" for the pool? Last time I lived in an apartment complex we had a rule that the adults got to use the pool after 7 or 8 p.m. (can't remember) cuz then there would be no kids in it splashing and screaming. You might check with the management and see what they can do to make it user friendly for all the tenants.

Our Curves out in Omaha ran $29.99/month, but then they opened several

" Ladies workout " places (Curves knock-offs, if you will) that were

even less--one was only $21.99/month and it was VERY similar to Curves!

Fantastic, ! Don't worry about what you did or didn't do to get

the loss, just start in now on your eating plan. Keep the momentum

going, girl! :)

Congrats!

Maybe you just needed to relax a bit. Perhaps you were eating too few

calories and your body went into starvation mode, and when you ate more your

body relaxed and released some excess poundage?

In our area it's $49/month, in line with what the other gyms are getting.

I never heard of a Y scholarship. Details, please?

Huh? The Salvation Army in our area has a few thrift shops, and the main

building the next city over has a few meeting rooms for 12 step groups, a

few offices, and the workplace for the area's thrift shops, where all

donations go to to get sorted and tagged before they get distributed to the

stores. That's it. No exercise facilities, no pool, nothing. It was like

that in Osceola County in FL, too, not just here in urban NJ.

At least in Curves it's also only women, so that would help. But even if I

could afford it I wouldn't go to the Curves in our city, as it's not so

private. They put it in one of the empty stores in teh shopping area, and

they keep the venetian blinds *open* all the time, so shoppers walking past

see everyone sweating inside.

> It's been in the 90s here this week.

We hit 75 but rainy, and today's high is only going to be mid 60's again.

That's fine with me - 65 and over is summer enough! We put the window air

conditioners in the 2 bedrooms yesterday, as it got SO hot in here when we

had to close all the windows when it started to rain.

The kids

The opening has been delayed here once again. Last year the city paid

multi-millions of dollars on improvements to the pool (built in the 1960's),

and already things have broken and need to be repaired. They hope to have it

open by July 4th weekend now.

> they get out of school June 9,

Let's see, schools usually close in mid-June, but they had a few snow days

this year, so they're probably going until the end of week of June 19th. A

few recent years they went until the 30th, so this is pretty good.

When we lived in the complex in FL there was no rule like that. The pool

closed at midnight and reopened at 8am, and anyone could use it duirng those

hours.

My sister has a Y scholarship (well a huge discount for her family of 5, they pay 40 a month) and all she had to do was ask.....maybe had to show income verification or something...but most Y's will offer assistance.....you would think here in So Cal we would have a good Y....NOPE.......and they offer SO many great programs....up in Washington where my sister lives, they have a fantastic homeschool PE Program!!! I am JEALOUS!

I'm proud of you. Many fat people won't go swimming because of how they

look in a swim suit. If you can go to the apartment pool then you can

certainly work out at the Y! :)

I'm going to the neighborhood pool tomorrow afternoon with my 6 year old.

I'm a little self conscious but I don't let that stop me from having fun. I

wear a tankini top and big board shorts to cover up some flab. My 3X board

shorts are getting too big so I picked up a 2X at Walmart yesterday. Maybe

I'll post a picture of myself in my swimsuit so you all can be truely

afraid. :)

Ours has a pool that I know of for sure, maybe other equipment... but I don't know. My mother is/was going to look into going to use their pool because her PT folks told her they might be less $ than the "Y"...

Ours has frosted windows and stuff on the ones that aren't, so folks going by can't see inside (thank God) - I would feel how you do if it were different!

ours run $40-45 depending on the town :( The Y scholorships are awesome! They base it on income and family size. I've done it twice - once when I was working out all the time and my daughter was about 5 and then a few years later we did it a second time so she could go to camps and I could use the gym and pool.Sue in NJ <susang3@...> wrote: > Curves runs around $35 a month, I want to say.In our area it's $49/month, in line with what the other gyms are getting.>Otherwise, you might get the scholorship to the Y,I never heard of a Y scholarship.
