I weighed. 331. Higher than my highest 'high' before, I'm fairly certain. So whats a better day then today to get a plan and get started using it to lose? I know when you are at your highest point it can be so hard but you can do it too! Make yourself a small mini goal and go for it! I was at my highest weight too when I started and I decided I just didn't want to go any higher.I started just hoping and praying to see 5 pounds gone. Oh don't get me wrong I want to lose it all and lose it now but I know it will take time. I try and stay focused on 5 pounds at a time and each time I have reached 5 pounds it feels so great. And after I have reached my 5 pound goal I tell myself I will not allow myself to gain back over that weight again. I weigh myself and after I have loss a few pounds and have kept it off for a few days I will allow myself 2 to 3 pounds to gain back for water weight of just plain calorie pounds and if I start gaining more then 2 or 3 pounds back I know It is time to "get serious" again.I think the best advise I have received from anybody is to take this in baby steps. Don't say I have to lose 175 or I have to lose 150 pounds. Just say I want to lose weight. And go 5 or 10 pounds at a time. It won't seem so overwhelming that way.We are all here if you need to scream and shout or brag. Come on and join the rest of us here. It won't be easy but you can do it. We are here to help you if you need it!And that's not even a guarantee. My scale errored out at me the first attempt :( That's ok. You don't have to know your exact weight. It would be nice so you could track your progress. But there are other ways to tell if you are losing. Many people measures themselves on a regular basis but i have to confess I can never get that to work for me. I also know it took me till I lost around 15 pounds then I started to notice my pants getting a little loose on me. The main thing is move your body. Walk as much as you can. And watch those portions. Also if your scale is undependable or does not support your weight(alot of them only measures up to a certain weight.) you might walk into your local Doctors office every week or two and weight. I don't know about the ones in your area but I can walk in mine and weigh and they won't charge you a cent. You can always call them and see if they will allow you a weekly weigh in if you wanted too. I'm only seeing about a pound a week gone and I would love to see 2 pounds a week gone but I always remind myself that every pound lost is good. At 1 pound a week in one year I will be 52 pounds lighter. Shoot at the point I was when I started I was just so happy to see I had quit gaining.

Less than a year ago (mid-Sept), I was at 338, so don't get

discouraged! Now I'm down to 268-ish, so while not thin by any

stretch, a lot more healthy than I was before. You can do it...you

already know what works for you, so just dust yourself off and move on :)

Sorry to hear that, Sula. My highest was 310 last June and am *finally* down to 285 - give or take a pound LOL.... hang in there, it is a good day to start again ;-)

Portions, water and exercise - as the others would say

It will get easier I promise.

Sorry if I confused anyone:( Was joking around. There is no such club.

My clinic weight loss plan encourages 64 ounces of water a day, and another 8 ounces of water for every 25 pounds you are overweight.

I do that too! I "have to" have all of my water in before going to soda and then it's only one, so like what a 12 oz can gives... not the super biggie mega gallon size like in the past. I can be such a glutton for soda all by itself.

Wow 64 and another 8 for every 25 pounds overweight. Won't I be floating away if I really drank that much water? That just seems like an awfully lot of water. I bet you are right. I just haven't drank that much water before. I might try that though and see if it helps. My brain isn't working. I am 288 pounds so how much water should I be drinking all together? I know if I thought about it I could figure it out, but my brain is tired tonight for some reason. Not that I did that much today. from MO. It was tough at first, but if you drink sodas, and you look at the sizes, you drink 20 ounces of coke etc.... in one setting, if you are an average person.

I have learned to drink the 64 ounces, and then additional 32 ounces, because I still have around 75 punds to loose, and can drink that much, as long as I remember to drink all day, and not wait till late at night to drink. LOL

You feel fuller, and the water flushes fat, and other stuff from your body.

My treat is a diet soda, with low or no sodium, AFTER I have drank all thewater I must have. Does that make sense? Re: UNGH

Just go by what feels right for you, . Start with 8, go from there.... if you are peeing light to clear, you are fine... if it's way stronger/darker than that you need more.... if you feel sluggish, etc... try a few more.... if you are sloshing as you walk the track, running to the potty every 5 minutes (Just kidding) try less.... I try to "follow the rules" but not get too caught up in them. That's what makes this so difficult is all the rigidness and rules, ya know? It needs to be a lifestyle change that you know you can live with.

P.s. how did it go with the meeting of the family with sister that is having wls soon?

I think one site I saw listed 1/2 oz of water for every pound you weigh.

Yes, it's a lot. I rarely, if ever, reach that goal. I've been drinking green

tea instead of

water, myself. It has a touch of caffeine but the chemicals in green tea act as

insulin

mimics and help keep my blood sugar down. Another compound acts as a mild

appetite

suppresant. Then again, it could just be the drinking a gallon of tea!

Start slowly...um, I think I've read that starting with a goal of 8

glasses of water a day is good--then add another half a glass each

week. That way it's a gradual change and not overwhelming, so you're

more likely to stick with it. Good luck! I aim for around 3 liters a

day. Um, what would that be? 12 glasses?

, I do get carried away with the rules. Then I seem to want to rebel. But I know I do need to drink more water then I am right now. I will take into mind your suggestion of doing what feels right. I have to go potty every 5 minutes it seems like any way. I am worried about having to go even more. But since I have to go a lot any way, I guess it wouldn't kill me to try drinking more like I should. I feel sluggish a lot so maybe drinking more water will help that. I didn't know about the color of pee thing you talked about. I will take that into consideration too. from MO.

,

Forgive me if I've got you confused :) You're diabetic, correct?

If so, frequent urination (and associated thirst) is oftena problem with

diabetes -

especially when BGs are higher than optimal. If you're just now getting your

glucose under

control this could be part of the 'going all the time' problem. Once you get

things in check

it should slack off some.

SulaBlue

>

> I have a 36 oz mug. Well, it is like a mug, but easier to carry and doesn't

spill. Oh I just

looked on it and it says its called a mini jug. Well, any way it says on it to

fill twice to get

your daily 8 glasses of water in. So what I might do is like you said start

slow and try to

drink two of those jugs. Then I might increase it later to two and a half and

then on to 3.

Well, we'll see. I might be getting ahead of myself. So I will start by

drinking the two full

mini jugs. I only have one jug, but I might go to Bed Bath & Beyond where I got

it and get

another one that way I can have it already in the fridge and have it cold when I

am ready

for it. If I know how much to drink it will be easier. If I say well I need to

drink two of

those jugs then I think I will be able to do it. I already have to go to the

bathroom a lot

and I don't drink nearly as much water. So I am worried about going to have to

go more

and more.

>

> Also I have been buying water bottles in 12 bottle packs. It is just too

expensive for me

to keep doing that. Even though right now I don't like the taste of the water

out of the tap

I am going to try and drink it any way. Maybe I will get used to it and it will

eventually

taste good to me.
