Hi everyone! I'm new to the list, but not to the weight loss journey. This one I started on January 3rd, 2006 at 301 lbs. So far I have lost 50 lbs (as of May 29th). Woot! I'm excited about my success so far. It's been 10 lbs loss a month which is my goal and about what I think is safe to do and maintain.

LOL I just asked you that from your other post :-D Thanks for sharing again ;-)

Nice to meet you Angel! My name is . I go by from MO. on here because I think there is another on here now. Although I haven't seen her post in a long time. Well, any way, I am married to a wonderful man. Been married three years this coming August 15th. I am 34 years old and I started trying to lose weight back in September. I have lost 52 pounds since then. I got off track around February. I am just now getting back on track with exercising and eating better. Back in September I was dx'd with Diabetes. That is what got me to start trying to lose weight in the first place. I was 340 pounds when I started out. I had gotten up to 350 as my all time high though. You've lost 50 pounds too I see, that is great! I started to do WW but didn't think it would work out too well with my diabetes. I don't think though that I gave it a good enough try. Well, that is a little about me. from MO.

Angel,

WTG girl, that is wonderful you have lost the weight. What incentive you

have to! Good Luck to you.

Angel's Intro

Hi everyone! I'm new to the list, but not to the weight loss journey. This

one I started on January 3rd, 2006 at 301 lbs. So far I have lost 50 lbs (as

of May 29th). Woot! I'm excited about my success so far. It's been 10 lbs

loss a month which is my goal and about what I think is safe to do and

maintain. I'm 5'6 " and 37 yrs old. I have been overweight my whole life even

as a little girl. My goal is to become a healthier and happier person.

Another big goal related to this is to conceive a baby and have a healthy

pregnancy. My new husband (one year) and I have been trying just over a year

now. Last winter my blood pressure was up to 140/90 and that was getting

high - pre-hypertension, which would have been dangerous to begin a

pregnancy with and was one strong reason to lose weight and begin

exercising. Once I lost the first 10% of the weight my blood pressure went

down to normal and is now averaging 100/70. I no longer feel like a heart

attack is imminent and I think I have reversed the course to diabetes I was

most likely on.

So in early January I joined Weight Watchers and have been attending

regularly since then. I also do daily exercise of about 90 minutes a day,

plus a 20 minute dog walk. I do about 40-45 minutes of cardio/aerobics,

20-25 minutes of pilates/toning, and the rest of yoga. I use fitness shows

on TV - Gilad's and Austin's shows. I have only missed two days since

I begin in the second week of January - and those were due to severe back

pain. I'm very proud of my exercise committment and progress. To me it is

key to do that as well as the healthier food intake.

Looking forward to getting to know you all and joining in on the

conversations.

Hugs,

~Angel

Hi again, Angel! This is so exciting! I would say I wish I had your stamina and drive to lose faster LOL, but I will take my 2 lbs a month, if that's what my journey is going to be. But you are right, that is a good safe pace...

Excellent. Congrats on the new marriage and you are sooooo right, losing pounds before baby comes is much healthier. Plus, you will *hopefully* have the routine down to lose weight easier/quicker after pregnancy. That's when I gained my weight pretty much, was after pregnancy, when I was too tired to care (LOL) about working out and eating right. Shoulda gotten on a program then... took me about 13 years to decide I needed to do something about it for me (and the kids)...

Woooohooooo you go girl! I wanna be just like you when I grow up. Just kidding, I am 38 yr old and a single mom of 3 boys (10, 11 and 13)

Looking forward to getting to know you all and joining in on the conversations.

Us too, glad you joined us!!

Welcome Angel. Congrats on the 50 lb loss. I am a at home WW. Need to get back to basics and that is my goal now. Are you under a drs care to get preggers OR are you just trying on your own? I know gals that sometimes try to hard if that is possible. Dont put to much pressure on yourself.

Thanks for the welcome!

I haven't gone to an OB or an RE yet about the fertility, but that is

because of income issues and lack of medical insurance. I run my own

business and DH was a computer contractor and in NH you do not qualify for

any medical insurance if you are overweight. Even to get high risk

insurance was over $900 a month and I could not afford it. When I get

under 180 lbs I can qualify for the insurance finally. Even then, it

doesn't include coverage for fertility treatments at all. :( I am on

Fertilityfriend and am charting regularly and trying not to stress about

it as much as I did the first 6 mos. of trying. When I finally get down to

goal weight - by next May, I will definitely see an RE if I still haven't

had any success conceiving. I am taking progesterone cream as my luteal

phase was a bit short without it, and I'm on lots of vitamin supplements

including prenatals, D, B complex, C, baby aspirin, fish oil capsules,

iron supplment, and also Vitex.

You're in NH, too? I live in Keene, NH.

Yes NH is not kind to overweight people. When my hubby was in flux whether to keep his insurance at work I called around. YUGH... You dont say you work. What about getting a small job just to cover your insurance. If hubby ever gets a job closer to home I may do that. I am in southern part of NH. I have been threw keene to go to monadonock speedway. As I said before dont put to much pressure on yourself. STress can effect fertility. Check out folic acid if that is in one of your vit.

Yes, I do work. I have my own business. It is just not bringing in quite

enough money to support us, but it is really imporant to me. I have

considered a part time job, but that would be unlikely to include health

insurance. Yes, I get 800 mg of folic acid in the prenatals.
