Hi Bonnie,

Thanks for asking. Today is 4 weeks out. I've lost 32 pounds. I'm doing

fine. I'm supposed to still be on liquids since my doc is

ultra-conservative but I've started to add soft food like avocado, cottage

cheese, refried beans, pasta and other things on the soft food list.

Nothing makes me feel sick. Everything goes down fine. I eat small

quantities. I feel empty and I feel like I have low blood sugar sometimes

but no hunger pangs. I drink lots and lots of flavored water as well as

high protein milk.

Hopefully I'll be officially cleared for soft foods at my appointment on

Monday so I can have tuna and chicken. Some tuna salad sounds really good.

Well..... Papa s pizza sounds *really* good but tuna salad will have to

do for now. :) Even though I've started some soft foods already I'm being

careful about what I choose and I'm chewing everything to smithereans. :)

I was on 2 blood pressure meds for a year or 2 before surgery. I took them

once after I got home from the hospital and I almost passed out since my bp

got too low. I haven't taken them since and my bp is holding about 125/82.

My clothes fit better and my face looks a bit thinner although it takes a

big loss to show on someone my size. When I get to 40 pounds I'll feel like

I'm really making progress. I've lost 20-30 pounds so many times before but

I could never keep it off.

I feel pretty darn good. :) No regrets so far.

Thanks . We had to take a picnic dinner to the elementary school

tonight for Family Fun Night. We went to Subway and I got a tuna wrap. I

ate the tuna with a fork and a few bites of the wrap and it tasted soooooo

good!

I still need to get in more walking though. I'm supposed to walk 30+

minutes every day but I miss too many days.

Even with surgery this will be a life long struggle.

Papa 's is my favorite pizza, and I do have it occassionally. Only 2 slices

though, with a big salad! lol

However, I make my own pizza a lot and like it. I like popover pizza, and Pizza

Pronto Pot Pie a LOT!

Here's the recipes.....

Still, you are doing great so soon following the WLS Ann. I had a co-worker have WLS almost 1.5 yrs ago. I don't know her stats as to how much weight she has lost, but she looks fantastic. She's the one that keeps encouraging me and noticing my weight loss. I definately know you are going to have your long term work cut out for you.

Keep up the good work,

That's wonderful, Ann! 32 pounds is a lot--especially for one

month. I'm glad you're noticing a difference in your clothes...that

always helps me stay on track. When I get *really* down, I put on one

of two shirts I kept from " before " . I'm swimming in them now and last

time this year I couldn't button them up.

Anyway, I'm thrilled to hear you're doing so well :)

Oh Ann congrats on the 32 pound loss that is WONDERFUL. I am glad you are doing so well. Are you taking before, during and after photos? I would love to see them. I have know 4 people to have the surgery and all have succeeded but 1. I love to look at their before and after photos. :)

LOL However since I havent got to that smaller size yet, couldnt say that for sure:(Anyway, I'm thrilled to hear you're doing so well :)-Bonnie

Do pitch most of them! Only keep a couple to remind you where you came from.

That's what I did. 1 pair of pants/jeans, and 1 shirt is all I kept. That's

enough. That way you aren't tempted, that you have a closet full of clothes you

can easily fit into, if you gain weight!

Thanks for the reminder! I want to take a photo on the first of every month

so I can have a photo journal. I'll get my 9 year old to take some

tomorrow. She's a better photographer than my husband. :)

I let her take pictures of me in Orlando over spring break so I would have

some before shots.

Thank you very much for your support. I feel a bit awkward sharing my

weight loss on here since it is so fast right after surgery. The hard part

will come later.

I am so encouraging and proud of people who can do it without surgery

because I couldn't.

Thanks Bonnie. I really appreciate everyone being so supportive. I wore

pants and a blouse to church this morning and they were so comfy and much

looser. I haven't tried on a pair of 22 pants yet. For now I'm enjoying

the 24s getting looser. :) I have a bunch of 22s in my closet but I passed

on everything smaller than that a long time ago.

I passed on my 3X winter clothes a week or two before surgery. My husband

said to keep them because I might need them and I was very offended! :) I

love my 3X coat. It's a red London Fog jacket and I'm very fond of it.

I'll keep it for a raincoat and treat myself to a new " winter " coat at the

end of the year. I say " winter " since we live in Houston. :) Kinda stupid

that it will be hard to pass on a 3X item but I really like that coat. :)

I also passed on some stuff that just doesn't make me feel good. Either the

fabric was too clingy or the color was wrong or whatever. As I get smaller

I'll enjoy selecting clothes because I really like them instead of just

getting stuff that fits around my big body.

I guess I will keep a pair of pants so I can do that hold 'em up size

comparison thing that you always see on commercials for weight loss gimicks.

:)

took a big load to charity in his pick up. I guess I am actually

de-cluttering this house. :) I need to take a bunch of books to the

library and more clothes and stuff to charity. Tonight my 9 year old

insisted on helping me clean out the refrigerator and some cabinets.

Hmmm...... it was great having her help but very unusual. :)

Ann --I'm wondering how is doing with your weight loss and changes you are making. Can he see a difference? Is he encouraging? Dacia <>< He lives, all glory to his name! He lives, my savior, still the same; What joy this blest assurance gives: I know that my Redeemer lives!

After so many decades of losing, only to just as quickly regain, be *glad*

you're able to share these " losses " right now! :)

That's what I have really had to work on. But, I say, it makes opening the

closet so much more fun, when all that is in there is things you LOVE!

I don't even keep my " fat " jeans out. I keep them stored away, so I don't have

to look at them much!

Well, going from 285 - 248 isn't really a big change when you see a person

every day. He hasn't made any comment about noticing I've lost weight. If

I mention how much I've lost he is a bit negative like " you can regain it if

you don't do your walking. " Argh! Men! In some ways I can't blame him

though because he's seen me lose weight so many times and I always gained it

back. I can understand that he is a bit skeptical.

It doesn't really bother me though. I get support from my WLS e-mail and

real life groups and will get on board when he sees the changes. He's

just a negative guy these days. I'm hoping if he gets his blood sugar

controlled that he will be more pleasant. I understand that high blood

sugar can cause lethargy and irritation.
