Guest guest
Be prepared if you don't lose. Remember you are doing this for health. Bob Green (Oprah's trainer) says when you start a exercise program you may not see a loss on the scale for up to 3 to 4 months, because your body may retain water, because it's not used to exercise and sweating! And there fore holds on to water, because of this extra sweating. But, then all the sudden you will see a big loss. But, even if you don't see a loss on the scale, you should see a difference in your clothes. However, personally speaking. I didn't see a difference in my clothes for a year. Or so I thought!!!!! I had lost 60 pounds and I thought my clothes still fit. I went on vacation, and came home and seen the pics of me in my old clothes. Oh my god, I looked horrid, I looked like a little kid playing dress up in my mom's clothes! People must of thought I was some kind of slob! I didn't see that in the mirror! I only seen it in pics. So right away I went to the store and bought new clothes. First I picked out some clothes only 2 sizes smaller.....hmmmm, still a bit big....then 2 more sizes smaller....hmmm still roomy....I ended up wearing 12 sizes smaller!!!!! From a 30 to a 18. I had been wearing 30's on vacation! When I seen those pics, and went to the store to get new clothes, I could actually wear 18's. No wonder I looked ridicules in those pics! lol Any way, point is....even if you can't tell your clothes are getting big. My thing is try on new size every two months just to be sure. I've been surprised each time I go to the store, I'm usually a size smaller! So you may just surprise your self! But, even so, remember to try to do this for your health mainly. I feel so much better now. Literally I was bed ridden before. Now I walk all over the place. Go on vacations with out needing to sit or get a wheel chair! And have went from 144 units of insulin a day to no insulin or diabetic medication at all! And no more kidney disease medication! And have levels of VERY healthy people, for protein, cholesterol (which I was also on meds for that and am not any more!), and glucose levels! I don't know how many are diabetics here, but for those that are, you will know what I am talking about. My HA1C, went from 13 to 4.9. Yes four point nine! That's below what even people with out diabetes usually have! >From: <sandra.mygroup@...> >Date: Fri Apr 28 21:11:09 CDT 2006 >100-plus <100-plus > >Subject: a quickie note before bedtime >Ok just a quickie note to say welcome to all the new members. I know I have missed welcoming some of you and I am truly sorry. I have been so busy the last day or two. I am getting ready to head for the bed here in just a moment but wanted to check in right fast. For all you new members....you'll love it here. The support is great! For all you regular members....It's great reading your post. Now as for me......I still havent got on my scales yet. But I can tell you I have been walking my butt off the last few days. Today according to my stepometer I just about did 6000 steps. Mind you I'm still not too sure about them things and have never thought them to be accurate but the point is I have walked my butt off.LOL Considering on one of my average days I was always under 500 steps when I didn't exercise! Now my dieting ...I think it is still going decent. I havent been counting my calories or journaling. To be honest I'm ready to hit the bed when I come home. Those scales had better be nice to me when I do weigh in or else they may be slung across the field. LOL For about a week now I have gotten more exercise then I think I have ever had! If this shows no results then..... well I don't know. When I do weigh in on my scales I'll give you a update. >~:~The Personal Touch~:~ >Tags, Stats, or anything else personalized with your name. >Everything here is personalized! >http://free.hostdepartment.com/t/thepersonaltouch >My Personal Web Site

But, even if you don't see a loss on the scale, you should see a difference in your clothes. I had 8 weeks last summer all total that I didn't lose lbs, but was losing inches. It was frustrating when I would weigh and that is why I take measurements (to the best that I can by myself).... OOooooooh I can totally relate!! I was trying on clothes at KMart the other night and I just hated everything there because I was in between sizes and didn't want to buy the bigger size and the smaller size I didn't want to get to just hang on the rack at home to look at it.... tonight, I went to Walmart and bought an outfit for summer, kinda a dressier pair of capris, tank and blouse to wear over it so I can wear the outfit to work... it was so cool to look at myself in those smaller clothes compared to the baggy things I walked into the store in... gasp! I didn't see that in the mirror! I only seen it in pics. So right away I went to the store and bought new clothes. I have walked over 2 1/4 MILLION steps in less than a year, and I do feel better. When we started our walking program, I didn't even think I would get to one million steps, like the goal was.... imagine my surprise when I hit that within 6 months!! Literally I was bed ridden before. Now I walk all over the place. Go on vacations with out needing to sit or get a wheel chair! That's great!! WOOHOOOO!! Guest guest
If, for some reason, the scale isn't nice to you this week just hang in there! Don't go out and blow it. Remember that when you start doing new/more activity, your body will hold onto more water initially, so you could even see a gain. But then it'll let go of all that water in a few days (or a week) and you'll see a big loss. Just don't quit if the numbers aren't nice. (You may have to say the very same thing to me if my scale isn't nice this week...I've worked my butt off! *lol*) -Bonnie > Those scales had better be nice to me when I do weigh in or else they may be slung across the field. Guest guest
Oh my gosh--I *love* Bob Greene--just got his book (used) off Amazon after borrowing it from our library a dozen times. His book made so much sense to me. And while I'm not an Oprah devotee, I liked the portions she wrote. It's good to know we're not alone in our struggles. -Bonnie > > Be prepared if you don't lose. Guest guest
Actually believe it or not. Both wise! First of all about a year into it, for sure width wise. A pair of sandals that used to cut off ciculation stopped. This year (end of year 3) I seemed to of went down a size length wise as well. Which is not great for me! lol It was hard enough to find a pair of adult shoes in size 4....now 3 1/2's or 3's aren't going to be any easier! lol I'm only 4' 7 " . lol haha However, I can sympathsize with you. I have a friend who is 6'4 barefoot, and wears a size 14. She mainly has to wear mens shoes. Unless she finds a good specialized store, which she used to have, but it went out of business so now she has to travel! >From: ABrite@... >Date: Sat Apr 29 14:31:02 CDT 2006 >100-plus >Subject: Re: a quickie note before bedtime >In a message dated 4/29/2006 8:04:04 AM Pacific Standard Time, MagnoliaWhisper@... writes:Also I've noticed my feet really have gotten smaller as well! >Fatness wise, or lengthwise? LOL.... Last night I came in and went to bed without even bathing. I got up this morning and went in to shower and it felt so good to my aching joints.I kid you not...This past week has been a VERY active week for me.And although I'm not counting those calories I have been mindful of how much I have been eating. But what worries me is once again. I feel no difference in my clothing and I feel like when I step on those scales it is gonna show something I don't wanna see. Today has been my first day in a while that I have not been active. It stormed here and the lot is way too muddy to even walk on. So this is my day of rest. If it wasnt for the fact that we are all meeting at my daughters for my sons birthday I would go to bed and sleep all day long.LOL I reckon tonight or tomorrow I'll weigh in and see what my results are. In a way I'm looking forward to it while dreading it at the same time.Good Luck to you too. Guest guest
Well don't push yourself so much you can't keep with it. I just worked on one part at a time. First I worked on just eating 6 times a day. That took me about a week to get into the habbit. Then I worked on doing all the food mover windows in a day. That took about another week to adjust. At first I sat down with the food mover, and would try to figure out each day what I could eat and when. (for which meals). Then, actually about 4 months into it, I figured, if I evenly distrubted my food the same through out the day, it helped me not need to drag around the food mover, and it was easier to plan meals. IE every day for breakfast, I have 2 proteins, 1 fat, 2 starches, and 1 dairy! My snacks are always 1 fruit. And so on. This helps me not need to guess what windows I have left etc. And I know basically each meal, about or approximately what I can eat any where we go. I like it a bit better, because I'm not co-dependant on keeping the food mover with me at all times! (no excuses, well I forgot how many windows I have left, and forgot my food mvoer at home, so eat what I want!). So just baby step your way there. I started out with just 5 minutes of exercise a day. And only started that on week four! And I only added 5 minutes each month! But, 10 pounds is awesome! That took me 2 months to get to! So you go girl! I think the first 10 pounds you don't see a major clothes loss, because of this....at least this is/was true of me, maybe not every one. Because, you/I actually did lose one size, but we/I may of been wearing a size too tight to begin with but had just stretched them out...by little by little gaining weight (not like we gained 10 pounds over night. One pound here and one pound there. And gradually may of stretched out our clothes to the next size up.) At least that's my hypothesis for my clothes. Because, when I go back and look at the few old clothes I kept just for show...I can see they were stretched to their limits, even the threads showing! in NY >From: <sandra.mygroup@...> >Date: Sun Apr 30 13:40:09 CDT 2006 >100-plus >Subject: Re: a quickie note before bedtime > Re: a quickie note before bedtime >Be prepared if you don't lose. So right away I went to the store and bought new clothes.I have lost over 10 pounds and I still don't fit into a smaller size cothes:( First I picked out some clothes only 2 sizes smaller.....hmmmm, still a bit big....then 2 more sizes smaller....hmmm still roomy....I ended up wearing 12 sizes smaller!!!!! From a 30 to a 18. I had been wearing 30's on vacation! When I seen those pics, and went to the store to get new clothes, I could actually wear 18's. No wonder I looked ridicules in those pics! lol > >Any way, point is....even if you can't tell your clothes are getting big. My thing is try on new size every two months just to be sure. I've been surprised each time I go to the store, I'm usually a size smaller! So you may just surprise your self! I do I have some pants sitting on my clothes dryer and I try them on after I get out of the shower every so often. I can get them on and zipped now but I cannot say they fit yet. I need to be able to breathe and squat in them good first. LOL > >But, even so, remember to try to do this for your health mainly. I feel so much better now. Literally I was bed ridden before.Isnt that so nice to be able to do things you havent been able to do in a long time? Now I walk all over the place. Go on vacations with out needing to sit or get a wheel chair!Even though I have only lost around 10 pounds i feel as I can walk the stairs more easily and go longer distances then before. I just have more energy now. I can oly dream how it will be again to get the rest of this weight off. Wow, thats impressive! And when we keep getting these kind of results when we lose some weight it still boggles my mind why we all fight it so much. LOL It is amazing how just losing 10 pounds can make you feel so much better then you did before. > > > >100-Plus Files page 100-plus/files >100-Plus Links page 100-plus/links > > > >
