THE MANY SIZES OF GOALS

Yes, goals come in sizes! There are the mini goals, the medium goals, and the high goals. Mini goals are passing up a cola or a donut at work. Medium goals are being able to do 20 extra minutes of cardio a day, and there are so many goals that fit into those 2 categories.

Then there are the big goals, the "pie in the sky" goals. The goals that are reachable if you work hard. Well, yesterday I was discussing that I`ll be doing another cruise next year, and on the last night of the cruise, I presented a challenge to everyone. I want to talk about that challenge to you today.

In about a year from now, we will be sailing on my Cruise to Lose 2007. Boy, you can accomplish a lot in one year! As I told you, so many had gained weight back, and others had lost weight but never got to their goal.

The challenge I would like to present you with today is a challenge for a year! You know, we get so caught up in how much weight we want to lose, many times we do not make these goals realistic. Oh, I hear people say, "I want to lose 10 pounds or 15 pounds a month." You and I both know that those are not realistic goals for the majority of people.

Your challenge is to lose 5 pounds a month for the next 12 months. Notice I said 5 pounds. You can`t get any more realistic than that! You just have to focus in on each month and make sure you eliminate 5 unwanted pounds. If you are consistent and you do that all 12 months, you will be down 60 pounds by the time we cruise next year. That means if you weigh 200 pounds today, you will be coming on that ship at 140. If you weigh 300 pounds, you will come on that ship at 240. If you have 60 or less pounds to lose, you will come on the ship at your ideal weight. Think about that! Whether you come on the cruise or take the CyberCruise next year, you could be in much better shape than you are right now!

Now as you know, if you have a great deal of weight to lose – 100 or more pounds – you may lose more than 5 pounds a month, but that will slow down as you get nearer to your goal weight.

Will you take this challenge with me? Can you lose 5 pounds this month of May? I believe you can! We will be talking a lot about this in our Clubhouse, and if you`re not a member yet, maybe it`s time to get real support from now until cruise time.
