So often, I am impressed by many people who walk through the doors of Slimmons. One of my regular gals who lost 50 pounds and kept it off brought a lady to class for me to meet. This sweet thing came up to me and said, "My name is Rene, and I have a story to tell you."

I was born and raised in the Midwest. Growing up, I watched your TV show. I heard everything you said about getting healthy, but your words did not sink in. When you started doing infomercials, I was right there watching you. I saw you with all those people who had lost weight with your help. I would sit there and hear you explain food portions and the benefits of exercising, but your words went in one ear and out the other. I also caught you on a gazillion talk shows, and you always gave the same advice. Well, one day, I just woke up and said, `I am 325 pounds, and now I think I get it.` I began to be smart with my food, and I started working out, and I have dropped half my weight, 160 pounds!

I hugged her as she took a before picture out of her bag to show me. I was so thrilled to have her in class! I watched her every move, and she was so light on her feet. During my motivational moment at the end, I introduced Rene to the entire class and shared her story with everyone. I asked her, "What has kept you going all this time?" And here`s what she said. "I have a wonderful support system of family and friends who are behind me 100 percent. As I was dropping the weight, they would comment, `Wow, you`re looking good! You are melting in all the right places. I can already see the weight loss in your face. You look beautiful.`"

She ended by saying that you can know everything in the world about eating right and know every kind of exercise to do, but without the support, it`s a very difficult road to travel. After class, everyone went over and gave her even more support!
