TOO OLD?

First off, I would like to thank you for all the nice emails I received after appearing on Entertainment Tonight with and a. Some of you even sent me cards to send to them, and they`re already on their way! I do these shows not only to help people around the country; I do it to inspire others to take better care of themselves.

After such an appearance, I get a lot of very sad email from those who think they can`t lose the excess weight because of their age. One lady in particular, who was very successful at losing weight, has sort of been going downhill lately. When she emailed me, she just said that she thought a big birthday was coming up, and she thought she was too old to get to a healthier weight.

What is too old? I mean, we all get old chronologically. Every day we get to live on this earth, we grow older. After you get into your 50`s, I have to tell you, it`s a wee bit harder to get the pounds off. You know, your heart`s fifty, your set of lungs is 50, and your gall bladder is 50. There you are on your birthday blowing out the candles, but let`s face it, your insides have been working hard for you for many, many decades. When you get to a certain age, your metabolism does slow down a bit, and you do get some aches and pains, but it`s not impossible to lose weight at any age!

This lady also said, "As I`m getting older, I`m losing my motivation." Hmm… I have to question that. You see, as I get older, I get more motivated! I get more motivated every day that I get to live here and see my dreams come true. I always work hard on my present, but I always have one eye on the future. Some people get depressed as they get older. I rejoice!

But here`s a clinker. If you`re carrying extra weight from year to year, it feels like you`re getting older, but in truth, you`re getting unhealthy, and when you`re unhealthy, your body does feel old. People always say to me, "How do you keep this weight off at your age?" The same way I`ve kept it off for all of these decades! I keep busy. In other words, I keep young!

Don`t think old; think young! If you start to eat healthier and stay on your program, your body will feel youthful. And with each day you exercise, you sort of turn back the clock! So if you think you`re too old, think again!

Love,
