Guest guest
's Daily Message Friday April 07, 2006 TOUCH THOSE TOES I always ask people who come to me for help if they stretch their body in the morning and evening. Ninety-five percent tell me they do. I wish I could just be a fly on the wall and see for myself what they do. The truth is that most people do not stretch… ever! How can you tell if someone`s not a stretcher? If their posture is awful because their back is rounded along with their shoulders, if their total anatomy is lacking energy, then you know for sure who`s not getting their stretching in. Would you leave your house in the morning with your hair all knotted up? But if you don`t elongate your whole self, you are walking out of your home with your body all knotted up! What position do you sleep in? To the left? To the right? On your back? Your tummy? Or like me, do you toss and turn, changing positions quite often? When you`re getting your Z`s, the bones in your body shift a bit. That`s why when you get up in the morning, you have to put everything back in place. Stretching in the morning is not good enough! You`ve got to do it in the evening, too! You went to work, you sat, you got up, climbed some stairs. You picked up the phone and made calls, you typed on your computer. You stood back up, sat back down. You crossed your legs. You may have even skipped down the hallway when no one was looking! In other words, you put your body to the test. How many similar and different movements do you think you make in one day? Millions, I would say. When you get home, you sit on the couch, sit on the dining room chair, and then lie in bed. But wait! You can`t just wait and lie down and go to sleep! Why? Because you need to stretch again before you say your prayers! At the beginning and ending of all of my videos, I stretch both my upper and lower body. Many of you have done my videos so many times, you know them by heart. Just use these stretches in the AM and PM, and in a few weeks, you`ll be rewarded with better posture, perkier muscles, and happier bones.
