YOU CAN`T EXERCISE

I guess you thought I would never tell you that you can`t work out, but in some cases, that would be my advice to you. There are so many flus and viruses floating around right now. I know a lot of people who are so sick. They`re running a temperature; they`re coughing, wheezing, and sneezing, and through all this, they`re trying to convince themselves they`re not so sick, and they`ll be better in a few days. Some die hard exercise fans keep working out, regardless of how they feel, and they finally collapse from sheer exhaustion, and their condition can grow worse.

If you are not feeling well, go play doctor! Go get checked out. The doctor will tell you to take your medication, drink lots of water, and get plenty of rest, and he will definitely tell you to stop exercising until you feel better and have more energy. I`m not your doctor, but I`ll give you the same advice. And when you do begin to exercise again, start off slowly, and only do what you can do. Your stamina will build up, and you`ll be working out like before in about 4-6 weeks!

There is another time when you should put your sneakers away for a while, and that`s when you get injured. I`m in contact with hundreds of people who have hurt their back, their legs, their knees – especially their knees – and their feet. They tripped while they were walking or suddenly fell in the snow. They lost their balance, and down they went! Some have had surgery. Others at home are recuperating. Again, your doctor will advise you to ice, ice, ice, keep your legs up, drink plenty of fluids, and relax. Don`t be in a hurry to get back to your exercise schedule. Let the bones, the muscles, and the ligaments heal. Again, start out slowly when the doctor gives you the okay to work out. If you don`t listen and start too soon, you can worsen your injury

When you are burning less calories, you know what happens! You gain weight, and in some cases, a lot of weight. You know what to do. Lower your caloric intake a bit, watch your portions carefully, and BE PATIENT!

Love,
