The surgeon said I have almost a 100% chance of having it laproscopic instead of open. > > I wanted to get the LapBand and had we not switched insurance carriers > back in October I want RNY because the results tend to be better but Lap Band is less invasive. Our insurance covered it up until Jan. 1. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!! > completely honest, though, I also thought of it as an easier way out. > After talking with a few women who have had it done, though, I now > realize it isn't the easy way at all! It isn't necessarily an easier way out but it's definately a different way out. Well, I feel like it's the only way out for me. I tried to dig myself out with exercise and controlling what I eat for 25 years and I keep getting fatter and fatter. I can't wait to have a new tool in my arsenal. It isn't easy to have surgery and it isn't easy to give up food as I know it but it certainly isn't easy to lose weight through willpower alone. Having surgery will make it easier to lose weight but life will be tough in some respects. > > I hope you have an uneventful surgery and a speedy recovery. I really > hope you keep us posted on your progress! Take lots of photos so you can > scrapbook them or something later I would love to keep you posted on my progress. Talking about weight loss surgery used to be forbidden on this list but the owners loosened the rules a bit. How about if I put WLS in my subject lines so people can delete if desired. I used to be anti-WLS so I understand how some people think I have no right to post here since I didn't lose weight without surgery. I've been on this list for years though and I would hate to be kicked off completely. Surgery is an option that some of us are going to eventually choose. My eventually is now. Well, at the end of the month. Ann
Guest guest
Ann I am sure we are not going to make you stop posting. Sue correct me if I am wrong. You will still have to eat well, exercise, and portions which to me is the key to healthy living. I have been on boards before where people start preaching WLS as the only solution. Putting down other methods. Thinking WLS is the only Weight loss method out there. Even with the WLS the theory still is calories in/ calories out. IT is finding the combination/diet choice/or way of life that works for your lifestyle. There are so many pros and cons out there with any diet/lifestyle way of life. My opionion is I wouldnt do it unless insurance paid for it. BUT that is my cheapness coming out. For me that would be a NEW car. A years worth of college. BUT I think it is great that your sister is helping you so you dont have to pay big interest. Have you ever seen the shrinking woman on TLC? I saw it for the first time the other night. OMG what that poor woman went threw. It is so much more graphic than the shrinking man one. Her name was Connie. OK now I am rambling. So sorry. NH...
