Well Bonnie any dr that says call me if you are still bleeding in a month, I would get a second opionion. Granted maybe just finding one that works for you is the key. I know with me if I go off BCP I will go 6 months without AND then bam hemorage. The longest I let it go was 21 days. Went in to see dr thinking I was going to need a D & C. Nope he gave me some pills to stop the flo and got me back on pills. AS long as I am on BCP I will cycle. I do have time when the blood is brown. I am told that is dried blood OR old blood is how it was explained. Red is fresh. If you are really comfortable with the dr you are with CALL and go in. OR my opionion go to another specialist if insurance allows. At times I get the whole lining that comes out at once. It doesnt shed so to speak. How do you feel otherwise?

HMMM, I would get a second opinion for nothing else but piece of mind.

Sometimes when you " skip " a period like with Seasonale when you do have one it lasts forever. I also know this is a HUGE problem with the BC shot (can't think of the name) that several of my girl friends ran into when they went off of it, and not a single one was told by a doctor until afterwards that that was common. So, it could just be the switch in birth control, but I think that for piece of mind a second opinion never hurts.

Happy Thursday!I got up and did step aerobics again today for about 25-30 minutes. Itold the boys I'd take them to the zoo today, so that will be a littlemore exercise, hopefully :)

Anyway, I wanted to get some opinions from you ladies because I can'tthink straight about this anymore. About two months ago I went onSeasonale bcp because my cycles were getting closer together eachmonth (this happens when I lose weight). I was to the point where I

had two weeks with no spotting or blood out of the month--that's it. So Seasonale is supposed to let you have a period once every 3 months(91 days of active pills, one week off). I went on it, but I couldn't

tolerate it. I was severely nauseous. Around day 10 on it (and I wastaking it at night, mind you), I started vomiting all night long. Iwent off of it for two days, was fine, started taking it again atnight and vomited again. Stopped taking it altogether. Started

bleeding heavily the next day.Went into the doc and got Yasmin bcp about a week after that, and Iwas still bleeding heavily. Oh, and I had my annual done when I gotthe Seasonale, everything is fine. Anyway.

Started taking Yasmin. Tolerate it fine, but have not quit bleeding. It's been 6 weeks on Yasmin. Sometimes it's brown spotting, but mostof the time it's bright red. Not a lot of it anymore, but still...I

have been wearing a pad for almost 2 solid months. I hate it. NowI'm starting to bleed more heavily again and nothing has changed withhow I'm taking it. Yasmin is a mono-phasic pill and I was told toskip the placebo week to try to get my body back to normal.

So what do you think? Should I be worried? My husband is. Myfriends keep telling me to get a second opinion. At this point, I'mthinking I'll just keep taking the Yasmin until after we get back from

vacation, then I'm done with hormonal birth control. But is this areally bad idea? My doc said that first of all, I'm out of whackbecause hormones are stored in fat cells and when you lose weight, ifyou are a person who it sensitive to that, it *will* affect your

cycle. Second, Seasonale is a high dose bcp, so stopping thatabruptly can do bad things to your body/cycle. Third, I started a newbcp (Yasmin) while not on a true period, just bleeding from stoppingSeasonale. So she's not worried. Said to call her in a month if I'm

still bleeding. *shrugs* I'm okay with that--but my mom, husband, and friends are urging me to go elsewhere because they think she'swrong. Now they have me worried :PAny ideas?-Bonnie

I've never been on BCP for a number of reasons, so can't offer any personal

anecdotes about it, but if you're having unusual bleeding or discharge, why

not call the doctor's office and describe this to the nurse and see what she

says. If it's a normal occurrence with these pills you're now on - or while

getting regulated on the new meds - she'll tell you. If it's not, she'll

have you make an appointment to see the doc.

The only time I ever had a brownish discharge was after I had Henry. I

hemorrhaged immediately afterwards and needed a D & C a few hours later, and

within a few days things went from red to brownish and I was told that it

was to be expected *because* of the rapidly changing state of my hormones.

It's probably the same for you.

I've had cycles when I bled for an entire month straight and was eventually

started on oral progesterone for a while. If your doc knows your cycles are

out of whack because of all this switching around of meds combined with the

weight loss, knows you're still bleeding (and what the color is) and says

not to worry, ease your mind by making that phone call. Most likely it's all

because of the hormones - that stuff is *very* powerful.

And when you *do* stop taking them, be *very* careful!! More people have

gotten pregnant at that time than most others, as the body is so out of

whack you have no idea when you're ovulating until you've been off for a

year or so.

I'd probably go and get a second opinion. Or stop taking the pills. Ask the pharmacist. If the pills aren't working or making you uncomfortable -- why continue to take them? Are you sure you want to take them until you get back from vacation? Isn't your vacation going to be going to see the in-laws from hell? I don't know about you, but having my period & visiting my mother-in-law is never a good combination. *lol* Believe me, I've thought of that. :) The reason I don't want

to stop taking them abruptly is I'm afraid I'm going to bleed heavily

for two weeks again, like when I stopped Seasonale. I'd rather have

it light than have to worry about carrying 4 pads with me on every

outing. *shrugs* Kind of the lesser of two evils.

You ladies have given me a lot to think about--I'm going to place a

call to the nurse and my pharmacist. I'll let you know what I find

out. Thank you so much!

HMMM. There could be a silver-lining in this. You could always start the severe bleeding, have to be rushed to the hospital/ER and be under doctor's orders for some rest -- and not have to travel for a few weeks until you get this all sorted out. <she says with a smile> Think of a way you can use this NOT to have to go on vacation with the in-laws! , after reading this, I think I need to go talk to another

doctor. See, I was afraid of being told I'd need a D & C--I really

don't need an invasive procedure right now. You asked how I'm feeling

otherwise. I'm okay, just tired. All the time, even on 8 hours of

sleep (usually 7 is plenty for me). I just can't shake it. Other

than that, aside from the normal mild crampy feeling I get during my

cycle, I'm fine. I'm tired of pads ;)

Anyway, thanks for posting this. I haven't heard back from the nurse

yet, so no news there. Hopefully soon :)

Bonnie, Trust me get a second opinion! I had SOOO many issues with BCP, Bleeding and well to not get to graphic online (you can email off list if you wanna talk more about my issues) but I did the depo shot, the pill (several different ones) then I had to take hormones to stop my bleeding (didnt work), then I had a D & C and well long story short none of them things helped me because I had something callled adenomyosis which is the same thing as endometriosis but on the inside. Luckly I had a WONDERFUL Dr who didnt listen to the first few I had been to and I had a hystorectomy at the age of 28. I am not by any means saying you have that but I am saying see another DR to be sure there is not something else wrong. Sometimes some pills just make some people sick, and maybe you just cant take BCP. It might be as simple as that. But it would so be worth it to be sure. Take care and I would really call another DR. Good luck what ever

you decide. Myssi

I was so sure I was going to need a D C that hubby had arranged to leave work if it happened. he was schocked when i called and they said NO just take this. I could not walk 10 ft with gushing. To me it sounds like they need to stop the flo and get you on something that will regulate you.

Thank you, Myssi. I have a call in at my doc's office, but they

haven't returned it yet. I don't really want to do all of this in the

next two weeks anyway, so at this point I might just wait until the

second week of April to do too much. Most doctors around here take a

while to get into, anyway. :P But yeah, I'll definitely be looking

into what's going on. Thanks again for posting.

Not sure if we have the same thing happening but here is what happened to me. After I got off pills I had very heavy periods or no period at all. Then I started to bleed and could not stop. The doctor gave me pills and other hormones so much that it gave me blood clots in my lungs and I almost diet. They finally did a d and c and it stopped for a while. About a year later I started to bleed again and they the doctors let it go for months until I had to be sent by ambulance to our state capatal to a big hospital for treatment. My veins were shutting down so bad i went through 6 ivs and they gave me pints of blood. No doctor could figure it out until finally one put me on a drug called megace. Bad thing this is a cancer drug with side affects and they also give it to aids patients to make them GAIN weight. Just what I needed yeah right. But finally a nurse had some info for me. Most all of us here are large women so you know what I mean here. She said that fat store estrogen and with so much estrogen cause i am very fat(lol) I can not control my periods since estrogen usually does. Now I don't know if this is true but made since to me. But hun keep looking for a doctor to help you or they will just put you off too and I sure don't want to see someone else go through what I did

I hope they get back to you soon, and get it all taken care of. I think sometimes they get in too much of a rush to deal with the patients and dont realyl care like they should. I mean after all if it was them hurting/bleeding like that they would not put up with it so why should you? feel better!!
