I was born with them. My feet are flat, and they`re very pronated, like the Aflac duck! I`ve worn orthotic shoes since I was a year old, and aren`t those shoes pretty? My feet problems grew worse as I gained weight. They were always hurting. If I walked more than a few blocks, my feet would burn for hours. When I started my weight loss program and began to exercise, I would ice my feet and ankles every morning and evening. Nowadays, my feet spend the majority of their time in New Balance cross trainer shoes. I like New Balance because they have wide width models that my orthotics fit in. Before I put my orthotics in, I insert those thin green linings made by Dr. Scholl to cushion my orthotics. When I get up and put them on, I don`t take them off till I sleep, although a few times, I`ve slept with them on. ;-) My feet come first, because without them, how could I dance for you? How are your feet? Do you take care of them? You can`t work out to your potential unless your feet are in good shape. Keep your toenails short and manicured. Pumice your feet at least once a month, because calluses can cause lots of discomfort. Before you hit the hay, get some moisturizer out and rub your feet. Also spend some time massaging your ankles. When you get up in the morning to stretch, flex and point your toes and heel, which will improve your circulation. Before you slip your active shoes on, make sure you wear socks with a little thickness to them to add more support to your step. If your cross trainers look like they`re worn out, they probably are, so go get a new pair, and make sure they`re cross trainers. These particular shoes have got great support not only for your heel and toes, but also for the sides of your feet. And when you use your feet too much, do what I do.
