Guest guest
's Daily Message Saturday February 18, 2006 IT`S WHAT YOU DON`T EAT! A lot of people don`t lose weight because of what they`re eating; a lot of people don`t lose weight because of what they`re NOT eating. The FoodMover makes it very easy, because it tells you exactly how much of every food group you can have. When you look at the FoodMover, you see in some food groups you only get a few windows, while in other food groups, you get quite a few. All through my career, I`ve asked people to write down what they`re eating, and I could take a look at it for them and see where the problems lie. Well, I`ve looked at enough food sheets to know that most of you do not close all your vegetable windows! You just can`t seem to get in your 5 or more portions of veggies daily. This may be why your scale isn`t budging! Each food group has a specific reason why you need to eat it. These foods all help your body in so many ways, from building stronger muscles and bones to keeping your energy up. Vegetables supply so many vitamins and minerals that cannot be found in foods, and they are full of roughage, too. Some tell me they don`t like vegetables, and I say GET OVER IT! Most don`t take the time to prepare veggies. The first place I go in my supermarket is the produce section. The head of this area is a man named Eddie, and he always proudly shows me his display of veggies. Each week, I first buy my dark green produce – baby spinach, broccoli, string beans, asparagus, snow peas, and sugar snaps. I just clean and steam if you know what I mean. I never overcook them, because the crispier vegetables are, the more nutrients they contain. Every night for dinner, I have 3 cups of salad containing at least 6-8 veggies, and I always have 2 veggie portions with my dinner. All that roughage really helps the body run smoother, because vegetables are like little Roto Rooters! When you go shopping today or tomorrow, hit the produce section first and stock up for the week. You have over 30 portions of veggies to eat in 7 days, and if there are certain vegetables you`ve looked at in the market and not tried, I say try them; you`ll like them!
