Guest guest
's Daily Message Saturday February 25, 2006 BLOW IT ON THE WEEKENDS At the start of every weekend, I get a flood of emails that read like this. " , I do so well on the weekdays, but I seem to always blow it on the weekends. Why do I keep doing this? " We`ve all been raised to cherish our weekends. Most of our parents worked five days a week and were off the next two days, so Saturday and Sunday were the days to party and celebrate. I couldn`t wait for the weekend to come! I knew we would be going out for dinner Saturday night because it was a family tradition. On Friday evening, Leonard would say, " Where does everyone want to go tomorrow night for dinner? " He would listen to all our suggestions, and then always choose the one my mother wanted. Now that`s love! Sunday was our movie day. Over breakfast in the morning, we would look through the entertainment section of the paper and see what was playing. If two movies sounded good, we would go to both, which meant I got to eat popcorn and milk duds… twice! After you finish school and get a job, weekends continue to become a happening. You gather with family or go out with your friends to eat and dance the night away. Weekends have become your reward for working so hard all week long, and how better to reward yourself than with food? A lot of people I know indulge in food these two days of the week and then get back on their program Monday morning. Gosh, it`s like starting over! It is possible to gain two, four, or more pounds over forty-eight hours, and I know when you step on the scale and see the weight gain, you are not very happy with yourself. You just have to remember that you only get a certain amount of calories and fat grams, not only from Monday through Friday, but also the weekend. I eat 1800 calories a day, and I try my best to stay true to that number seven days a week. If you`re going out for dinner tonight, remember, you have a date with your FoodMover. If you`re going to a movie, remember, eating calories in the dark counts, too! Love,
