OVER SWEATIN`

When I came to Los Angeles in the early seventies, I opened up my exercise

studio, and I taught from morning till night. There were days I taught five

classes. I`d be so tired at night that I`d fall asleep with my workout

attire on. Everyone in my classes was getting fit but me. I was getting

pooped out! I got to the point that I was losing too much weight because I

was exercising too much! I was having a few medical problems because I was

overexerting my body.

Yes, there are those who don`t sweat enough, and there are those who sweat

too much. Over sweatin` is a serious addiction in our country today.

Everyone seems to be on the fast track to lose weight and get fit. There is

still a large group of people who starve daily to see the pounds drop

quickly. They eat around 400-500 calories a day, and you know what happens

to these people. They get sick, and many lose their lives.

Some people think if they work out many hours a day that they`ll be in shape

in no time. Oh, and how wrong they are! These individuals get up in the

morning, jog, lift weights, and then follow that with even more cardio. The

body loves to exercise, but not that much! With all that working out, your

heart may give out! Your muscles and bones were not built to be so overused.

I got so burned out while teaching all those classes, I ended up in the

hospital due to sheer exhaustion.

If you`re pushing yourself too hard, stop it right now and get a more

realistic schedule! You know my beliefs. You should exercise seven days a

week for an hour or so. Four of those days, you should be doing your cardio,

like Disco Sweat, Dance Your Pants Off, or a new workout like Party Off the

Pounds. On two of those days, you should be doing your toning with Tonin`

Uptown and Downtown, Tone and Sweat, and our new workout, Totally Tonin`! On

the seventh day, get that swimming and walking in.

Don`t overwork that cute body of yours. Give it what it needs, and your body

will be pleased!

Love,
