It is better than nothing. We lose ECHO benefits when Jarrod retires in a month and I have already told them that I expect them to cover Hope's ABA we had to appeal and Bernadette Bautista at P & I went over there and raised all kinds of hell - saying that just because we have worked so hard with her and so has the school - that it doesn't change her autism.I need everyone I can get on our side - my husband will probably be going into the merchant marines - read that out to sea 6-9 months per year because he has had no luck finding a job - its awful. Just the respite alone would be enough for me - I haven't had a "date" with my husband in over 6 years - and when Jarrod was out to sea last time Ihad to wake up my son who just left home - at 3am when all the kids were finally out - and go grocery shopping then. I no longer have anyone to do that 3am watching - Molly has AS and she can babysit or take Hope to the park, both Hope and Sara have night

terrors and she simply isn't equipped to deal with them. Taking the girls to the grocery store is a lesson in humiliation, by the time we are done - everyone (including me) is in tears. It seems like a miracle to us - we have had to fight and claw our way through this maze of "services" that all say we don't qualify since day one. My husband leave s all of it to me -because i am not sure he even "gets" what Hope has.JenTheresa Mesa <clanmesa@...> wrote: Can I give you a heads-up on Regional Center?

The caseworkers are overworked. The services are often inadequately funded. The service providers often don't know what the heck they're doing. I found out the hard way that Regional Center wasn't the miracle worker I expected it to be. Stay on top of what you and your caseworker decide to do. It's going to be a job...
