Guest guest
's Daily MessageWednesdayFebruary 01, 2006 FEAR OF GAINING Every Sunday when I go to the grocery store, I see this sweet lady who I always talk with. The first time I met her over Romaine lettuces, she told me she had recently lost over 100 pounds. I congratulated her and wished her continued success. Every week, I see her trying her best to put into her cart the healthiest of selections. I see her pause in front of the bakery and then quickly move on. I see her pause in front of the deli meats and quickly move on. Well, last Sunday I saw her again. She told me she had just worked out for an hour and a half, and she was so exhausted. We talked about her progress a little, and then this look came over her. She admitted to me that she was so afraid she was going to gain all her weight back and be miserable. "," she asked. "Did you ever think you were going to gain your weight back?" "Oh, yes," I said, and it`s true. I used to be excited about losing weight, and then I would be haunted by the fact that it was very possible to regain those lost pounds in a New York minute. There were many times I gave into those fears and put back on 30, 40, or 50 pounds I had just lost. One time I had this dream, and in this dream, I was very overweight, and when I would walk down the street people came up to me and said, "Hey, what happened to you?" "You`re bigger than I`ve ever seen you!" "Why did you let yourself go like this?" I remember waking up so frightened, and what did I do? I ran in the bathroom and got on the scale! I think you know the statistics. Eighty to eighty-five percent of people who lose weight gain it all back plus some. And how did they put that weight back on? They got lazy with the way they were eating. They got lazy moving their body. They got lazy in their minds. I`m telling you what I told that sweet lady at the grocery store. Be fearful about gaining back your weight, but don`t let that fear get in the way of you losing it. It`s about midweek right now. Are you on program? Are your meals and workouts all planned? Protect the weight you`ve lost by staying true to the goals you set in January! Love,
