Hi Amy,

I would want to see the entire article as well, but ocular

torticollis (in this case caused by superior oblique (SO) palsy) is

one known risk factor for the develoment of plagiocephaly. I don't

believe it is all that common, but you would probably know more on

the subject considering you've had to go through this with your

daughter. How common is SO?

The broadest definition of torticollis is any asymmetrical

positioning of the head on the neck (this is what causes plagio). It

can be caused by many things: ocular, neurologic, problems with the

cervical spine, etc. but is most commonly musculature. For that

reason, many people mistakenly refer to it only as its most common

form: Congenital Muscular Torticollis or CMT.

There is a specialist in Cleveland who is truly an expert on this

subject. Her name is Karmel-Ross, and I'm sure she could be a

resource for any parents looking for additional information on

torticollis. Anyone in here from Cleveland that is seeing ?
