Guest guest
Hi, Sue- I feel for you! All of this had this a month or so ago... the vomiting was followed by diarrhea and I was really worried about dehydration... How long after the vomiting are you waiting til you offer water? I waited about half an hour despite the thirst to make sure they were finished... Have you tried the Pedialyte without flavoring? My kids did not like the flavored P or the P popsicles... If the vomiting doesn't stop, watch for sunken, shadowy under eyes and skin that doesn't snap back quickly around the wrist area. If this happens, I would go to the ER for fluids... I hope the remedies stop the vomiting and get her back on track... you can try regular popsicles too if she will try them, after the water has been accepted without vomiting... I figured it was better than nothing... Good luck, I hope this resolves quickly, I know it's scary... Love, Patty N.
Guest guest
Sue, my kids went through a similar bug about 6 weeks ago. My 3 year old son vomited for 3 days straight, and did not eat or drink for 3 days. Finally hit a homeopathic remedy that worked for him, and it was like magic, he passed out into a deep sleep for a few hours, woke up, redosed, another deep sleep, 3 times in total and he was good as new in the morning. The poor kid drank, and drank, and drank for a couple of days, and had lost weight, I felt so bad, but he bounced back quickly. I'm not sure how old your daughter is, but to me, the wanting cold water only and not being able to keep it down sounds like a key symptom. Is your homeopath a classicial one? Or another that has just taken a few coarses? With my son, the key symptom was that he wanted his back rubbed all the time. Guest guest
Yes, I would definately try a different remedy if that one is not working. L. Guest guest
OH Sue! I am so sorry you are dealing with this now... We are just on the tail end of it. I also worried about the dehydrating part. I had Carson suck on crushed ice and he sipped gingerale. We went well past 24 hours on the vommiting part and then the fever set in for about 36 hours. In the midst of that the diarrhea appeared. I would say a good 5 days is what it has taken us and he is still very weak and pale. I had the most luck with the Arsenicum as it fit him at that time. He is more Bryonia now though. Sounds like your homeopath is on the right track from what I went through and what I was told for Carson. Ice chips, popcicles, gingerale, water with electrolytes is what I pushed. wish I could offer more help... hugs to you Sherry > I have a very unhappy little girl on my hands today. Guest guest
Carson wanted cold drinks as well when he was going through this. He is pretty thirsty now and is drinking water pretty often. We stopped by school today and his teacher was shocked at the weight he had lost and how sickly he looked....poor kid.. Sherry > Sue, my kids went through a similar bug about 6 weeks ago. Guest guest
sue, have you tried letting her suck on a lemon or lime? that always works wonders for my kids when they throw up. also, i'd suggest a bath with a load of natural salt (epsom, himalaya crystal, rock, or high quality sea salt), to replace any minerals and trace elements. we seem to have been spared from this one, but several locals here are suffering from the same. claudia --- crazeladyshopper <crazeladyshopper@...> wrote: > > OH Sue! Guest guest
Hi Sue, I hope by now your little one is feeling better. One thing I wondered, is she gulping down large quantities of water when she drinks? This will surely come back up. Ice chips and popsicles (like some have suggested) are better because they take longer to get down. If she does drink water, I would only let her have very small amounts, perhaps just one swallow at a time. She will probably protest, but it's better to keep a swallow down than gulp a cup full and have it come back up. Kay ******************** I have a very unhappy little girl on my hands today. She went to bed last night in good spirits, scampered into our bed at 11:00, and started throwing up at 11:30. She vomited significant quantities of food three times in total (we had to change the bed at 1:00!) and then carried on vomiting mucus and fluid regularly during the night. Dh had to go out for a while this morning and she asked to come down on the sofa around 10:30 and watch TV. She was trying to sleep but with no success. Since 9:30, she's vomited ten times, and the problem seems to be that every time she drinks any water - for which she's very thirsty - she just brings it straight back up. She won't have warm water, only cold. Sometimes it comes back straight away, sometimes after about ten minutes, sometimes after about fifteen - that's about the longest. Although her energy was quite good early this morning and she was reasonably chirpy, she is now getting very weak, very petulant and argumentative, and very fed up with herself - understandably! I gave her a phosphorus 30c about 9:30 as per instructions from our homeopath - seemed to make a difference initially and I repeated the dose at 12:15, but she refused a 3rd dose about an hour later. Our homoeopath has now prescribed a 30c arsenicum, to see if we can break the cycle of everything going down and coming up again. She's also recommended a tea of slippery elm but Robyns says point blank she won't have it. She won't even try warm water to see if that stays down better, but she is now starting to get dehydrated, imo. She's desperately thirsty, but can't keep a drop down. Food hasn't even been an option today. How long is it safe to let her go on vomiting fluid like this? At some point the dehydration is going to become a big issue and I'm not sure how long to let it ride. I'm all for her dealing with whatever she's got in her own time and naturally, but there's a limit to how long she can go on vomiting. She doesn't have much of a symptom picture with which to work - apart from the obvious. Any suggestions please? It's so hard to watch your child suffer - and worse to hear them throwing up regularly. She's vomited about 19 times since last night and I'm just beginning to fret a bit.... Love, light and peace, Sue
