Happy Holidays, everyone. I've really appreciated all the advice from

this loop. has been in his STAR Band since Nov 29th, but he had

to stop wearing it two days ago because he's got terrible excema. His

head was so bad that the rash was WEEPING and staining the inside of the

band. He's on a steroid cream and antibiotics and will have to wait until

it heals before he can put the helmet on again.

I feel so terrible about losing all this time in the helmet. But you

gotta do what you gotta do, right? My question is... when we finally

get to wear the helmet again (hopefully in the next day or two) should we

just plop it back on his noggin or should we go slow like when we

started?

On a positive note, is doing well otherwise. The rest of his

9 month checkup was uneventful. My former preemie is now 18 lbs 1 oz

(20th percentile) and 27 inches tall (25th percentile) with an 18 in head

(60th percentile). He was a 33 weeker, but developmentally you can't even

tell anymore. He's crawling, pulling up, standing alone very briefly,

babbling and has two teeth.

I took pictures with my digital camera so I could show the orthotist why

we removed the helmet and I was noticing that after only a month his head

actually does look rounder. I'll have to post some pictures on his web

site so we can compare the before and after shots. But seeing the

improvement only makes me more frustrated that we've lost days without

it.
