Guest guest
, I know exactly how you feel. I dreaded getting 's DOC Band -- I was depressed, blaming myself, and had lots of doubts: would it irritate his sensitive skin, would it bother him to wear it, would he have trouble holding his head up with the extra weight, etc. The worst part was doing the head mold -- he cried for 10 minutes, but it wasn't as bad as I had expected. And the day he got his band, I was really surprised because it was no big deal! He didn't mind it, and I felt much better when the anticipation was over. didn't have any problems with the band, and we were so pleased with his results. I'm sure in the end you'll feel that it was all worth it. 's head shape looks great -- not perfect, but whose is? And the biggest surprise -- he didn't cry at all during his exit cast! Good luck with the repositioning in the next few weeks. Don't fight your feelings because they are natural, but just know that you will feel much better when Preston gets the helmet! Guest guest
: Thanks for the update. SOunds like everything went as you had expected. Do you have an appt scheduled with the physical therapist yet? I'm not very familiar with passive helmets, but it could possibly help with the ears and other facial assymetries. I do know ears & assymetries are the hardest to correct. You never know. Like you said, you'll take whatever improvement you can get :-). As I always said beggers can't be choosers. Try not to get too discouraged or upset about the pending helmet. I know, I know, I've was at the same place you are at last year. But it really isn't bad at all. The vast majority of babies adjust w/o any problems at all. It's us adults who have the hard time. It gets easier day by day. Waiting for the casting, fittings, etc. the anticipation of it all is one of the most stressful periods to this process. In the meantime, keep up the good work with repositioning. Also, keep appealing your ins. company. Don't go down w/o a fight!
