Guest guest
Does the YMCA actually have you fill out that type of information or was it just an informal " Are your children up to date on vaccinations? " I think they ask that if you have their ears pierced but don't ask for confirmation. I can see a preschool having you fill out all of that paperwork because it is a licensing requirement but not a gym. Maybe they aren't aware of religious exemptions, maybe you can give them a copy of your states law. I would imagine the ymca could refuse you being a private organization anyhow. Suzanne Ohio Can I take my child to the YMCA unvaccinated? I want to use the local YMCA, however, I was told that I could only use their daycare if I have a medical exemption for my unvaccinated child. Why can't I use the religious exemption? Will I have the same problem when I register my child for private pre-school? Thanks, Sara
Guest guest
If your state recognises Religious exemptions as well as Medical, your daycare or local YMCA should be willing to accept either form instead of just one. Of course any private institution reserves the right to say no to any exemption. difuccisara1 <difuccisara1@...> wrote: I want to use the local YMCA, however, I was told that I could only use their daycare if I have a medical exemption for my unvaccinated child. She is using the YMCA's daycare facility (I believe). If they receive state or federal money, I don't think they can exclude your child for the exemption. You will have to check with someone in your state. Ohio )0(~~~)0(~~~)0( Mom to Brittany, born 8/31/93, dx'd-IDDM 5/28/01; , born 6/28/97; and Shayna, born 6/1/00. Vaccine free since 1999! Guest guest
Yes, the YMCA gave me a form to complete and I need to fill in the dates for each vaccine. It's not the actual daycare I want to use but the child care they offer while I use the facility. I was told that I could claim a medical exemption if I had my doc send in a letter. I live in NY and I believe this Y is not state funded. Guest guest
Yes, especially since YMCA is a Christian organization. Speak with the director and, if this is one of your concerns, explain that aborted fetuses are used in making many vaccines and that this is unacceptable in your faith tradition. It might not be at all - but if it works..... Sheri B.
