As some of you know my homeopath is in India (in the city formerly known as

Madras). I asked her about sending donations since so many of us are skeptical

of some of the organizations and don't want to give money that will be used

towards vaccinating the victims.

She gave me permission to forward her reply.

" I'm glad you asked. Here (below) is part of the text of a letter a priest

friend has sent out to all of us. You can be sure that money sent will be used

for longterm rehabilitation of the victims.

The maximum devastation, though it was all along the coast line, was in

Nagapattinam and adjoining Catholic Shrine of our LAdy of Vaillangani. NOthing

happened to the Church, but since it is a pilgimage destination, there is a lot

of temporary development on the beach, and about 400 people perished on the

beach that morning who had fgone there to each breakfast on the beach, though

there were over a 100,000 pilgrim people in the church area. The Church is in a

wonderful position though to be really effective for the local people, because

they have the infrastructure and volunteers all in place.

I've given you the address below.

Kanyakumari and areas more south of Nagapattinam whas less damage because they

were sheilded by Sri Lanka. "

Thanks,

Dr. Leela

Here is the information she received:

" In all likelihood, when the initial sympathy dies down, the fisherfolk further

south (i.e., in the areas of Cuddalore, Nagapattnam (Velankanni) and Kanyakumari

which are all adversely affected) will be left out. I spoke yesterday to the

Bishop of Thanjavur (in whose diocese Velankanni & Nagapattnam, the worst

affected areas are situated). He says that the Diocese is carrying out massive

relief operations in about 20 villages of Nagapattnam. Hence, here is an

opportunity for you to chip in your mite - no matter how small!

You can send checks and D/Ds to the following address:-

Rev. Bishop Devadass Ambrose

Bishop's House,

Rev. Fr. ph Lionel

Tel:- (00)-(91)-4362-235524

The FCRA No. is 01100063770 Name of Bank: State Bank of India, Main Branch.
