I'm shocked that they are still denying based on investigational!! Wasn't it

you who said you couldn't get to Tim Littlefield's documents? I would still

suggest trying to send him an email to his own email address and see if he

can help you in some way to get to those documents. I am floored that they

would use that excuse since the DOCband is FDA approved! I'm sorry - I wish I

could help more, but I think you will have a good chance of winning at the

review board as the DOCband is clearly not investigational.

Good luck and let me know if I can help you get into contact with Tim

Littlefield.

Hi all- Of course we lost our first appeal to CIGNA HMO of NC. We

expected to lose but it still stings coming at Christmas!! Boy do I

miss that $3,000!!!!

Anyway... They are still denying us on the basis that " it is

investigational/ experimental and of unproven benefit and thus not

covered under our policy. "

What I need from anyone who can help is more medical studies stating

this DOC band therapy is proven to get results and any case studies.

The next level of appeal allows us to appear before a pannel of

outside doctors ( not Cigna) and we need to be loaded with lots of

medical info. Please, if anyone can help, email me! Thanks and have

a good holiday.

I'm willing to bet that they will eventually cover this, becuz as we

all stated before, the DOCband is anything but investigational.

They're probably hoping that you'll just accept the denial and move

on $3,000.00 poorer.

Tim Littlefield will probably help you out again with the documents

that will help in your next appeal.

Good luck & keep up the fight.

I don't know what kinds of studies that you have used in your first

appeal, but if you go to cranial tech's info center at their website,

you might find some very valuable information.

http://cranialtech.com/infocenter/infocent.htm

There are a few documents that pertain to the FDA approval and the

DOCband. Once a product has approval from the FDA, I think its no

longer considered experimetal or investigational, but don't quote me

on that. There is also a document that follows an 8 year

investigation to prove the efficacy and stability of the DOCband.

Tim Littlefield, as well as being the better looking identical

twin ;), he is one the wonderful researchers that works for Cranial

Technologies . He has done so much for so many of the parents here

and always has tons of info. I'm telling you, as long as we have Tim

Littlefield and here, we are in good hands!

Hey how frustrating for you! Have you asked the Band people

for copies of studies or gone to their web site they have some info

there but I think your best bet is to email Tim Littlefield he is

sucha wonderful resource and has so much to offer. Please keep us

posted on how you do andkeep sending them info until they are piled

in paperwork. Did your neuro write a letter of medical necesity?

Well-today was a day filled with phone calls and

finding people to help us fight CIGNA. I called Tim

Littlefield and he was extremely helpful. I also

contacted the patients advocate group and they also

agreed to help us. We got in touch with our nuero doc

and they are sending us more medical documentation.

Hopefully we can get them to go to our appeal #2 with

us and that way the docs can talk directly to one

another. Thanks for all the info you all have

provided. Cross your fingers and I will keep you

posted!
