HOW TO DO A VIDEO

For every one person who joins a gym, there are thousands and thousands of people who work out at home to exercise videos. The whole workout video world was started in the early 80`s by a gentleman named Stuart Karl. The first 2 people to do tapes with Mr. Karl were Jane Fonda and Curly Lox, ME! Twenty-five years later, I`m still doing these tapes and lovin` every minute of it!

Before I tell you how to do my videos, I want to tell you what goes into the making of a workout tape. The selection of music comes first. I put my wish list of songs together and wait a few weeks to see if the publishers will allow me to use those songs in my video. Once the list is compiled and the beats per minute are figured out, the choreography begins.

We put together a series of exercises that will safely take you through an exhilarating workout for your body. Some of the steps go side to side, front to back, and diagonal. There are lots of hand movements that go with the movements of your legs, which are low impact. The combination of high and low intensity movements makes you work harder and at the same time, improves the strength of your heart. Then I pick a cast, and we rehearse 4-5 weeks before shoot day.

So here`s what you should do when you get one of my videos. You should put it in, sit down, and watch the whole thing. If there is a movement you don`t understand, rewind the tape a few times and watch it till you get it. The next day, do what you can. It may be 5 or 10 minutes, and that`s okay! If you can`t do the whole tape, always remember to do the warm up and also the cool down. You may only be able to do a few aerobic numbers at first. When you`re pooped out, fast forward to the cool down. You do it before you go lie on the bed and take a post exercise nap.

It may take you a few weeks or more to get all the steps perfectly. Don`t worry; you`ll get it. You should look at all the people in my video, and especially look at the people who weigh around what you weigh. See how they adapt all the movements for their body. As I always say, if you can`t stand up because your back, hips, or legs hurt, put a chair in front of the screen and do all the movements from the waist up. The secret is to always study a new video and then sweat to it.

Thank you for all your patience while you`re waiting for my new videos. I know you will like them!

Love,

Thank you Sue for posting these. This one especially is helpful to me. I always wondered why I gave up on these things. Now I know I was going about it the wrong way. I don't feel so much like a dummy anymore now =0) Thanks again, TeraseeSue in NJ <susang3@...> wrote: http://richardsimmons.com/messageoftheday.php 's Daily MessageTuesdayJanuary 24, 2006 HOW TO DO A VIDEO For every one person who joins a gym, there are thousands and thousands of people who work out at home to exercise videos.
