Guest guest
's Daily MessageFridayJanuary 20, 2006 ANOTHER REASON TO MOVE No one touts the benefits of exercising more than me! From the moment I got bitten by the exercise bug, my mission was to get the whole world excited about moving their bodies. I tell my students today as I told them over 30 years ago, that exercise is the miracle you`ve been looking for! Exercise makes you feel alive! Once the music starts, your body gets happy. Exercise gives you so much energy all over to the point where you feel like you`re going to fly! Exercise makes your heart stronger and your lungs healthier, too. Exercise can help lower your cholesterol and blood pressure. Exercise burns lots of calories, which means every time you work out, you lose a little weight. Now there is another great reason to exercise! Just 15 minutes of exercise such as walking, aerobics, weight training, stretching, or swimming 3 times a week can reduce the risk of Alzheimer`s Disease or other dementias by 30-40%! This study was done by Dr. Lawson in Seattle, Washington. "What is striking is that it didn`t take much exercise to reduce the risk! If you don`t exercise, you should," says Dr. Lawson. Polls have shown that of all the afflictions of aging, many people fear Alzheimer`s the most. Scientists believe that 4.5 million Americans have this disease, and these numbers are expected to grow as the population continues to age. Why does exercise help so much? Exercise may delay dementia because it stimulates blood flow to the brain. That makes sense, doesn`t it? When you work out, the circulation improves and the blood excitedly flows through all your veins and also to your brain! When your brain is in good health, it can think better for you. Does exercise make you smarter? Good question, huh? I do hope you`ve been exercising every day. I hope you realize how beneficial your workouts are to your body, your brain, and your soul. Yes, your soul! When you`re feeling healthy, your soul feels peaceful and content. Love,
