Guest guest
Debi, So sorry to hear about the problem with the excema. Poor little guy! Don't worry too much about the time out of the helmet, it shouldn't cause any major setbacks. I would think you might want to get back into it slowly just to make sure you don't have any spots that are rubbing or aggravating the area where the trouble has occurred. Glad to hear that the 9 month check-up went well. Sounds like you have a healthy little guy there! Marci (Mom to ) Oklahoma
Guest guest
Debi, My personal opinion is too take it slow...let 's scalp slowly adjust to the new temperature. If you let him sweat in it right off for a long period, this could cause a heat rash. Maybe 3 hours on, and wipe down. I don't think keeping it off for a long time is good, but to make sure to take it off to wipe away all the sweat. And be sure to make him as comfortable as possible. Poor baby, I really feel for him, has a little ezcema, but not as bad. My ped always tells me to just use Dove body wash, which it has helped a little, but not totally. Good luck to you all! Guest guest
Hey Debi-we all have periods where our little lovey's have to be out of the band and it is so frustrating but will be fine and you will be able to capture all of the growth time once you plop it back on there. I would definitely take it a little slower checking for irritation and red marks after you put it back on-and if he is sweating a lot then make sure he has a nice dry scalp before reapplying the band so that this same issue does not resurface. I know we have had lots of eczema discussions in the past and if you would do an archive search on it you could probably find a lot of good info. If you have trouble doing that let me know and I will take alook for you. I remember when I was first trying to maneuver around the board I had no clue and was like duh!!! So don't feel bad. It is great that your preemie is catching up- I was quite premature and only weighed 2.4 pounds when I was born-which explains a lot now haha. It is amazing how well kids do. I am so glad is hanging with the big boys now-he will be off and running before you know it. Well, hang in there Mom you are doing a great job and enjoy this head snuggling time while you got it.
