Guest guest
Sorry I haven't been around much the past few weeks - with Henry home from college classes we've been spending a lot of time together - something that's unavoidable when he has lots of places to go but refuses to drive. He takes this off-time to catch up on all his doctors' appointments, visit relatives he avoids all year long, and get some shopping done. This year he's also been working on his application and getting references to grad school. He finally got his last reference in today's mail so the application will be hand delivered to the office Tuesday. On Tuesday we'll be in the area because I have to go for fingerprinting to start the mandatory criminal background check the wonder state of NJ is now requiring of all medical personnel, and since my nursing license is still active and valid, I have to go. Yesterday was a podiatrist appointment. Wednesday evening Ed and I started dancing around to R.E.M.'s Shining Happy People and I landed wrong on my foot. The doc is 99% sure there's no broken bones, and said with all the arthritis I have in the feet anyway he doubts even an x-ray would be definitive. I have strict orders to curtail all impact exercise for at least a week and to toss out my R.E.M. album. I promised not to dance for a while and he's letting me keep it for now. Food has been okay - I'm not even trying to stick to a strict McDougall plan right now but have been following my old food plan that kept my hypoglycemia under good control for all those years. It's *very* similar to Sugar Busters and South Beach phase 2, but without the silly carrot, corn & potato restriction. In the past 2 weeks I lost almost 10 pounds, then regained it, all with no change in eating or exercise from the week before. I'm sure I'll add another pound or 2 (or more) next weigh in because of the exercise restriction. Tai chi and toning can keep me fit but does nothing for weight loss. Well, gotta go. While I was typing this the library called on the other phone telling me a book I placed on interlibrary loan came in, and since they close at 5pm I better hustle my buns outta here and go get it. Guest guest
You are one busy lady, I feel tired from reading what you have been up to recently. Sorry about your foot, but that is a great song--so Stand by R.E.M. Good news about your son, I am glad to hear he is doing well. Take care and don't let your doc make you ditch some great music.. you can tap your toes next time (now where did I put my old disco records.....)
