Change, some bills, keys, or a handkerchief? M & M`s? Shame on you! Do you keep words in one of your pockets? You really should. I do it all the time, and I`ll tell you why. There is power in words! One single word can change the way you feel in an instant. Here`s what I do. I take 4 small pieces of paper and write a word on each piece. Not any old word, but a word that means something to me – a word that will put me in a better place and help me deal with what is important. I fold the 4 pieces in half and put them in my pocket. If I`m having a challenging day or I`m feeling a little lonely or sad, I reach in my pocket and pull out one of the papers and read the word that is printed there. I look at the word for a bit, close my eyes, and reflect on what that word says to my heart. I then fold the piece of paper up and then stick it in my pocket. Like magic, I feel more… well, energized and centered. Here are some words I have used over the years. SELF-WORTH – Good one, huh? When you feel worthy of success, success will come to you. DETERMINATION – No matter what goals you want to reach, sticking to your beliefs is what will get you there. LAUGHTER – If you`re in a funky mood, nothing will break it faster than having a good chuckle. GRATITUDE – Oh, there is so much to be thankful for, and when you stop and remember all you`ve been blessed with, you will feel such peace. And PEACE is another good word. So are words like COURAGE, PERSEVERANCE, COMMITMENT, COMPASSION, STRENGTH, HOPE, WISDOM, LOVE, CONFIDENCE, BALANCE, APPRECIATION, JOY, and CALMNESS. I am sure there are other buzzwords swimming in your mind right now. Go get 4 small pieces of paper and write on them the 4 words you need to be reading right now and focusing in on. And if there is someone around you who needs a little lift, pass that person a word! Love,
