PAID TO LOSE WEIGHT

I never was a competitive person. I never played sports because I wasn`t interested in being on some team and playing against another team for prizes. I`m not much at watching sports, either. There you are high in the stands looking at 2 groups of guys beat each other up for a pigskin and money.

My father tried to entice me with money to lose weight. He would say, "I`ll give you a dollar for every pound you lose." It didn`t work for me. Then he went up to $2.50 and then $4.00 for every pound I would shed. It didn`t interest me, and I passed up trying to compete for a piece of my father`s wallet.

There are a lot of competitive reality shows on TV right now. I never got into "The Survivor," because it was just too hard to watch. Each week, everyone on the show looked worse and worse physically. I guess I`m just not a jungle person. I did like to watch "The Amazing Race," and if there were no eating scenes, I would sometimes watch "Fear Factor."

The last 2 years, I got many offers to host weight loss reality shows. I would sit through all these meetings and listen to them pitch me shows where individuals and entire families were competing for cash, cars, trips, and other luxurious items. And after all the pitches, I would thank them for their time and graciously say no.

Although there are several weight loss reality shows on the air right now, I am not a fan of any of them. I just don`t think these shows send a good message to their viewers. What is the message? Do anything you have to do to lose the most weight and reap material rewards. Kind of shallow, huh?

You know what the real rewards of losing weight and getting healthy are, don`t you? You feel more alive! You have so much energy, you don`t know what to do with it. You have a strong heart and set of lungs. Your circulation and your metabolism will function properly. You will look younger, probably live longer, and have a better quality of life!

Please lose weight the right way and for the right reasons!

Love,

I'm a few years younger than . My dad started out with a dollar and

went up to 5 bucks before we both gave up. Heck, I was already on 1000

calories and running my butt off being the tomboy of the block - what more

could I DO?

Though an emotional eater, I think I spent many years with my body trying to conserve fuel because of lack of nutrition from being on welfare for so long.

Well, I'm not getting paid really for losing the weight but I do get a

reward to look forward too. My husband says when I hit the 100 lb

mark he will hand me $500 to have a shopping spree with. He is going

to give it to himself too so it's more like a reward than a bribe.

Now, my mother in law did try to entice Marty to lose weight by

offering him $10 for each 10 lbs lost. He wasn't ready to do it then

much then and she didn't follow through now that he is. LMAO.

> how about reversing this? You pay your dad $4.00 for every pound you

> gain! OUTCH

Ouch is right. When I got paid for the pounds lost, I *did* have to pay it

back when I regained it the next week. Eventually I just told my parents to

just stop even pretending that was going to work to get me to lose weight.
