Guest guest
Hi Donna It looks like you had a pretty good week if you ask me. That is good that you are listening to your body, that is something I need to do more of. Maybe if you modify a little with the Firm It Up workout so your back stays protected? A few days ago I FINALLY bought The Firm Power Yoga. I haven't tried it yet, but I did preview it and it looks really good. I TRY and do yoga 3 days a week, but lately I've only managed about 1 or 2. With DH being home for 2 weeks I don't know when I'll be able to get it in. You know when their home and they aren't supposed to be? It really messes things up. I love him, but I'd rather have my routine back lol Seriously though, while he is off we plan on painting our trim on our house and deck and getting some odds and ends things done around here, so I guess I have to look at the good part of it lol I am going to be doing Cathe's July Rotation, but decided to add on a body part each day. I started out saying that her July rotation would be just what I need since all the workouts are super short, but of course I have to make them harder lol We'll see. Have a great Sunday!! Guest guest
Tonya, I can't say that I have to deal with a non-healthy spouse, but I would like to react to what you said. While it is tempting to go off a decent eating plan when someone else is putting temptation in front of you, I'd like to point out that your husband can't force you to eat anything against your will. No one can sabotage your eating but you. I'm speaking as someone who loves to eat. I've always been a big eater. But now that I've gotten older and I've experienced the joy of eating reasonable portions of healthy food, I find that I crave the junk less and less. What we all need to do is make our food choices based on how we feel physically, not on how we feel emotionally or even on how the food tastes. Here's what I've been teaching myself to do: When I'm tempted to have something that's not on the plan, I make myself wait just a few minutes (or even seconds) while I ask myself the question of happiness vs. pleasure. The yummy junk food will give me pleasure because it tastes good, but when the pleasure is over will I be happy? No. I'll be more miserable for having eaten what I shouldn't have. So I just ask myself what I want more--short-term pleasure or long-term happiness. This usually helps me when I'm tempted. And when I win the argument and decide to have what's good for me, I feel better about myself. I also can watch other people eat the junk food and think to myself " Ugh, if they want to poison their bodies with that crap, let 'em. " Anyway, Tonya, I know it's a challenge. But remember you're not alone. All of us here are living a healthy lifestyle with you. > Well, I had a pretty decent week, but I don't think it was as good as it could be. I'm starting my log again tomorrow to see if I can get my eating back under control. It has totally sucked lately. Anyone else have to deal with a non-healthy spouse who sabotages your eating? Mine got ticked yesterday when I was grabbing some stuff for Nachos and I picked up the fat free sour cream and cheese, because he doesn't like the taste as compared to the full fat stuff. We compromised and got reduced fat, but I still feel like it was horrible for me to eat. He's not going to like it but I'm not taking him grocery shopping again, because I'm going to get the fat free stuff from now on! I made it through the warm-up, but stopped then because it wasn't working. I'm going to try and move around a lot today to see if it works itself out so I can get in a good workout this evening. If I can get him to leave me alone long enough. Since my kids are in Texas visiting their grandparents, he wants to spend every second together. I guess there are no kids to distract us. But I want some me time too so I can get my workout in. I'll be so glad to get to the gym tomorrow. > > Tonya
Guest guest
Oh, the eating isn't my problem at all. I'm just sick of hearing him complain when all I fix is healthy stuff and I'm not about to do double the work to fix my healthy meal and his crappy one. Now I'm making him cook for himself, and we'll see if he decides to eat with me instead. LOL Re: Weekly check in Tonya,I can't say that I have to deal with a non-healthy spouse, but I wouldlike to react to what you said. While it is tempting to go off a decent eating plan when someone elseis putting temptation in front of you, I'd like to point out that yourhusband can't force you to eat anything against your will.
