Guest guest
I was with a male friend yesterday and well he was commenting on my weight loss. All good stuff. But stupid me responded to all his compliments with yeah, but look how bagging this is, and saggy this is, blah blah blah blah. Later as I reflected on it I thought that wasn't such a good thing to do. Here he was complimenting me and I all I could do was point out the flaws. I was exuberating negativity when I should have been feeling really good!! I think this is a learned trait in people who are not happy with themselves. They have spent so many years concentrating on the flaws, that they fail to see the positives, even when transformations are taking place. I " m going to send him an email thanking him for his comments. Also, I'm going to make it a point to find something about myself to feel good about everyday. But you know the one thing he said that really made me smile? I asked him if I looked better now? He replied, " well, I never had a problem with you before. " Man, that was priceless!! Anyway, my question is... What is something about yourself that you feel GOOD about today?? Can you make a commitment to find something everyday about yourself that you feel good about no matter how depressed you might be or even if you blow your diet or have a few aches and pains, or even if someone insults you or gets on your nerves? This is the one thin you are committed to feeling good about!!
Guest guest
I feel good about my face - it may be bloated right now but it's still a pretty face. People like my dimples and have always said I had a pretty face. MindyA2daB <abrown_314@...> wrote: Anyway, my question is...What is something about yourself that you feel GOOD about today?? It looks like this is another instance where I would recommend reading the Overcoming Overeating book and doing its recommended " mirror work " so you learn to accept and like your body. A very short overview of this is in the FAQ on the authors' web site: http://www.overcomingovereating.com/faq.html#19 > But you know the one thing he said that really made me smile? We would all be quite surprised by how many people would actually say that. Not *every* person in the world thinks the ideal figure for a grown woman is that of a pre-pubescent boy! Many men (and women) think women should have curves, and plenty of them. Sue in NJ
Guest guest
Good insight! We all know that the main battle is in our heads otherwise we wouldn't need to lose all this weight. I read a book once that said once you should look yourself straight in the mirror each morning and give yourself a compliment and really mean it.A2daB <abrown_314@...> wrote: I was with a male friend yesterday and well he was commenting on my weight loss.
