Guest guest
Eileen, Sounds as thought your trainer is willing to work with you and help you make the changes that you need to make (that we all need to make!) to help you be more healthy. Good luck! CherylEileen <ebax@...> wrote: I thought I'd check in, since I was rather whiny about trainer last week.Earlier in the week, I emailed him, at his request, a list of my mostfrequent foods and meals, categorized by: breakfasts at home/work, eatingout, snacks, etc. there were about a dozen categories. I told him upfrontthat I was pretty defensive about my foods. I mean, we all KNOW what'sright and wrong about foods or the way we eat them, we just don't alwaysfollow our head.So our discussion of these was pretty much just what I expected. He didhave some constructive comments and I tried to take them in the spirit theywere given. For instance, our typical Sunday consists of a large breakfastcooked by Husband (not necessarily unhealthy but big), no lunch (but somesort of snack, like popcorn or fruit) in the afternoon and a large, "formal"dinner like roast chicken or roast beef, that I then delegate out forTuesday and Thursday. He thinks it's really important that there be somesort of official lunch that day. Also, since Saturday is Errands and Sundayis Hang Around the House, I tend to do fast-food or drivethru on Saturdays, and graze on Sundays. One thing he suggested is to come in to the gym Sunday afternoon. We haveGREAT mass transit here (Portland OR) and I'm not just saying that because Iwork for the transit company. I could ride my bike to the light rail (1/3mile) and from light rail to the gym (probably 1/2 mile). It would suck upsome "grazing" time, I could actually have more peace and quiet than isoften available at home. As my endurance increased, I could ride the biketo the NEXT light rail stop before putting the bike on the train and ridingthe rest of the way. I'm only 4 miles from work/gym and I'm sure that, eventually, I could do that. He says it would be part of that whole "makemovement a part of your lifestyle" thing (grunt, smile).Over the weekend, he wants me to do a 24/7 plan for the whole next week. That way, I can change my mind if I want to, but at least there will be aplan. Most of the time, I only plan dinners (for purposes of groceryshopping), and the rest of it is catch-as-catch-can. Obviously, THAT plandoes NOT work. So, I will be busy this weekend. Plus, today is my big 5-0 birthday but Iwill be going to the funeral of a 43-year-old friend of the family who had astroke on Monday. Guest guest
Eileen, I want to say happy 50th and I'm so sorry to hear about the loss. It's always harder when they are younger than us. Work on your plans - love the bike riding idea! --- Eileen <ebax@...> wrote: > I thought I'd check in, since I was rather > whiny about trainer last week. > Over the weekend, he wants me to do a 24/7 plan > for the whole next week. > That way, I can change my mind if I want to, > but at least there will be a > plan. I am so sorry you have to go to a funeral on your birthday. Was your friend ill OR did the stroke come out of no where. It is stories like that, that keep me going to trying to be a loser. NH... Guest guest
Thanks to everyone regarding my adventures with my trainer. I did write up a 6-day menu plan and will send to him today - that was a LOT of work! Today is the "fix" for the root canal, and no workout, but I expect to go in tomorrow.
