Guest guest
It's official, was officially diagnosed with Asperger's today and having it in writing enables me to go to the school with the diagnosis!! YIPPEE!! Strange thing to be happy about but we've been looking for the missing piece of the puzzle with him for so long that I am totally relieved to have a "reason" for all these behaviors and ways of thinking!! -Charlotte

How I wish we knew what I had back when I still was younger. It would have made a big difference. Now, please make sure he gets all the social skills training he needs. He could be the greatest engineer in the world with an IQ of 206, but without good social skills he will be flipping burgers and getting bullied by the high school kid salting fries for the rest of his life he doesn't have those excellent social skills. I mean that. 95% of people with Asperger's are underemployed or unemployed. It is because of the social skills.
Guest guest
Hi Charlotte, So pleased for you. I hope that you are able to get him the appropriate help at school now. in England
Guest guest
I don't think it is strange to be happy about it at all! It doesn't change who he is, he was and always will be . This just gives you a bit more insight into how he " functions " and what you can do to help him to learn (be it academically learn, socially learn, whatever). Congratulations, I hope the school moves quickly and is able to get him any services he may need. > It's official, was officially diagnosed with Asperger's today and having it in writing enables me to go to the school with the diagnosis!!
