Unfortunately, we have no pictures. We tried to take some but it

really didn't show the flatness. I do want to stress that she is not

finished with her treatment. Her head is still misshapen, but it

seems that now my husband and I notice it more than anyone else.

After the osteo treatments however, her head no longer feels totally

flat on the side - you can feel it bulging out in some places. She

just needs to grow more! And her ear placement looks better - it

used to look like it was drooping down a bit. She'll continue to see

the osteo and the consultant for awhile.

I don't know how severe her plagio is compared to others - I've never

seen another child with it- so I don't know how successful it would

be for others. I guess it would also depend on the doctor. But I

was so glad to read that someone else is taking their child to an

osteo! Most people look at me wierd when I mention it; I think they

are greatly underused!! Even if kids are being treated successfully

with helmets, I think it's worth it to have an osteo. evaluate them

also. This doctor also took the problem more seriously than others.

Our pediatrician informed us of the problem but wanted to wait for a

referral. She thought my girl might grow out of it. The plastic

surgeon said when her hair grows, it wouldn't be as noticable. But

the osteo. said we could have brought her in even sooner for

treatment, and he has been most confident about the treament (and

what we have seen and felt support this). If I have another child, I

think I will bring him/her to the osteo. right away for an

evaluation! I obviously am very pleased with this doctor and the

treatment he has given my daughter, but I know it may not be for

everyone. As I said in my earlier post, I think it's good for people

to know what all of their options are.

Laurie:

It is definitely good for parents to know ALL the options out there

to help plagio. Thank you so much for all your great information. I

am so happy to hear of the good success that you have had with it

thus far. I'm sure your daughter will grow more soon to get more

improvement! Isn't it great to finally feel some bulges in the back

of her little head?? Keep up the great work. BTW, I don't think

you're crazy for this! Way to go. Be sure to keep us informed on

your daughter's progress & good luck.
