To make a long story very short, our peds made light of the situation and did not recommend the band. We decided against our docs, to go ahead with the DOC band, and I asked her for a referral and got it on the spot. A good Doc will listen to the needs of the patient. My ped kept telling me it will round out, she's seen worse, the ear misalignment was an optical illusion, etc. We opted for the band, he was in it for almost 3 months, and we saw a huge improvement. My docs now agree that it was the way to go. I find that you as parents are the only real advocate for your child, because you see him/her everyday. Sometimes Docs don't want to admit they are out of their league, unfamiliar, or admit being unknowledgeable about something, so they give you an uneducated answer to pacify what they consider an "anxious" parent. Research, educate yourselves and make an informed decision based on what you know. We have no regrets with our decision, in fact, we are sooooo thankful we did it. This group will help answer all your questions and don't let the Docs intimidate you or put you off, time is of the essence to decide on what your plan is, because the window of opportunity with repositioning and banding goes by very quickly.
