Guest guest
Hello Ladies. I’m new here. I’m Liz, 50yo, living on the beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast. It’s already getting into that summery sticky weather here, and I will NOT go through another summer in long pants and long shirts! For about a year (since I (1) topped out my bathroom scale and (2) started wearing the very largest size in the Women’s department), I’ve been fooling myself about my weight. If you’re already there, you can’t gain MORE, can you? Ha! We all know the answer to that, right? It’s like the old joke about “I can’t be out of money; I still have checks!” only this one is “I can’t gain any more; I’m already off the scale!” I was part of the old CompuServe “Century Club” (those with over 100 lbs to lose) back in the day. Seems I broadcast a goal to lose “96 pounds in ’96.” Well, it’s almost 10 years later and my goals are the same, I just have more pounds to choose from. I look forward to getting to know all of you. Together, we can be a bunch of REAL LOSERS! :-)

Seems I broadcast a goal to lose " 96 pounds in '96. " Does that mean we only have to lose 5 pounds in '05? Welcome. Most of us can relate to fighting this battle for 10+ years. Frustrating. Guest guest
Welcome Liz, This is a great group and you'll love it here I do long pants and short sleeves - rarely sleeveless because the garment makers seem to think my armpit reaches to my waist grrrrr. I started at 330 got to 265 and popped back up to 299 (heading down again) think I'm at 297 now. Do you have a plan? baby steps are good. This time around I'm looking more at calories (shame on me since foodmover has worked well for me twice before but I can't get revved up. Guest guest
>I'll ask you the same thing - your plans are???? Thanks for the welcome! The only plan right now is to do aerobics/walk 5-6 days per week at least once per day for 1/2 hour each and do a full body weight training session 2 days a week. Plus eat more veggies and fruit and get a good nights rest every night. I have tried a lot of the commercial weight loss programs available and I'll probably be referring to them if I start to lose motivation, but otherwise I'm doing my own thang. Thankfully I never acquired a taste for any sort of soda or fizzy drinks, so water and milk (and the occasional cup of tea) are all I drink. That is at least one hurdle I don't have to worry about. (pizza and chocolate chip cookies are another matter...) -Lynne
Guest guest
Hi Lynne, I too am new around here. Welcome. Your approach to eating is alot like mine except that I do keep my eye on my Foodmover (but I do not use it everyday) because I want to be sure I am eating from the correct food groups. As I could easily eat all of my calories from starches & meats alone. I am eating whole grains brown rice & barley. I started my exercise with walking 30 minutes daily. Then after a while I thought about extending my walk time. But it was to stressful. It was not long before I discovered that while I could not handle more than 30 minutes, I did have the ability and time to do two 30 miunte walks daily. So on most days that is what I do. Eating right and doing some exercise while drinking water are my daily goals. Recognize a few >names from there =) Hi Kathy You'll find this list a nice, friendly one. In fact, I started this group to get away from the flames and fights of IDMA, where so many were drawn into the battle. The days of internet anger are hopefully, all in the distant past, as people learn to get their public displays of anger under control Several from IDMA started nice aromatherapy groups here on . We've all evolved on to enjoying pleasant forums, and it's wonderful. >Just recently, cleaning out my room, I came across some of my old oils >and blends, and re-discovered my love of it again. I In aromatherapy they're called synergies, in natural pefumery, they're called accords, and after accords are blended, a finished perfume, lol. Notes are still notes, so off you go, you're ready to blend again, and it's nice your daughter is also into it. >I used to exchange a lot of emails with Sherill Pociecha, about >perfumery, life in general, etc. I started doing searches and >re-bookmarking all the old sites I visited frequently, but cannot seem >to find a valid email address for Sherill again. She was a member here until a year ago, posted regularly, helped behind the scenes, then her emails started bouncing. I contacted several folks, nobody has heard from her. I hope she's OK. >Butch recommended I join this list for the best info/discussion of >Natural Perfumery, so here I am. Glad to be here! Butch shares his gems with us occasionally, not nearly enough (hint, hint!) Glad he sent you here.
