Hello everyone,

I am new here and thought I would just jump right in and introduce myself to you all. My name is Lee Ann, I live in IL just moved here from Ky moved there from IL....whew....so I am back home finally. I am 20-11 (ok my kids say mom that is still 31 but I like the idea of still being 20 something!). I have 3 kids ages 13, 7 (8 in 2 weeks) and 20 months. I am newly divorced after 10 years of marriage. I guess some things don't last forever and from what I know now it lasted to long. I suffer from depression I have since high school, but didn't know that how I felt was something that I could get help for. I stopped all meds last year when I could not afford them (my darling ex left nothing for the kids and I but an empty house and an empty checking account). I dealt very well considering but am now starting back on them and look forward to really feeling normal. My doctor is also helping me with my weight and said to "get some support girl!" I have known her for years and she was crushed we she heard of all the things that have happened in the last year. So she said to go low carb (something I did have success with up until that day that I came home to an empty house). She also said to walk 30 minutes every day for the next 2 weeks and to do 30 minutes of something for me everyday.

So here I am all 258 pounds of me (I am 5ft 8). Looking for support and friendship from others that have been there or are going through this life change (getting healthy). I cant wait to get to know all of you and look forward to being part of the group!

Joyfully,

Lee Ann

Lee Ann, have you had your body fat measured? What's your skeletal frame and

musculature like? I ask because when I first started dieting I thought I wanted

to get down

to what was on the height/weight chart which said 140-150 or so. My doctor,

however,

after seeing the measurements, gave me a goal weight of 210-220.

No I had not had my body fat measured. I would like to though and am thinking of going and doing that when I have a bit of extra money. I know that they do it at a large gym about 40 minutes from here. Would be interesting to see. I would say that I have a medium frame. That would have my target being 136-150 on those charts. I am not set on that 150 is my ultimate goal. If I find that I am happier at a higher weight and my doctor thinks I am fine there then that is where I will change my goal to. I am also open to lower then 150 if that is what I think is right. Right now I just really want to lose 8 pounds and be at 250 that is my current goal. We will set another one when we get there lol

Thanks for the welcome, these seems like it will be a great group to be a part of!

Kris,

That website was the best. I have laughed and cried reading it. Thank you it is now bookmarked and I will be stopping by there often. She is a very good read something you don't always find online.

As for atkins messing with your head it is true. I became so addicted to it before and I know I am heading there again. But it is ok cause this addiction gets me feeling better doing more and much lighter so I can be more active in life. My family just has to put up with my run to the computer to enter my food in fitday, my constantly telling them how many carbs are in the foods they are eating, and the uncontrollable rage I will go into if someone eats my last carbsmart fudge bar (or equally yummy low carb treat) at that time of the month when everyone woman on the planet must have chocolate.

Maybe I should start a blog on the insanity of being a low carb addict and how it makes you act towards your family?? HUMMM

Have you tried ZCarb bars? I found them in my local grocery store on clearance

for 25

cents a bar. I guess the low-carb craze is dying here, or something. They've

always got

low-carb stuff on bottom-barrel prices. I just got CarbWell BBQ sauce for 69

cents a

bottle.

Here's a link to the ZCarb bars, with the nutrition info.

I wish I'd bought more. They're REALLY awesome, and didn't give me much of a

glucose

spike at all. (My body does process some part of the sugar alcohols like carbs,

apparently).

I have never tried those bars. I really don't eat much of the low carb candy snack stuff. I try and keep the fudge bars around but only eat 2 or 3 a week and when I go to walmart (couple times a month) I pick up an atkins peanut butter cup. I might check these out if I see them though.
